(Bloomberg) -- Thailand may scrap mandatory quarantine for foreign visitors vaccinated against Covid-19 as it may help the nation revive its tourism industry, according to Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha.

Foreigners visiting Thailand may be allowed to skip the two-week isolation if they furnish vaccination certificates but authorities will continue to track them, Prayuth said after a cabinet meeting in Bangkok Tuesday. The government will carefully consider all aspects of such a move before implementing them, the prime minister said.

The Southeast Asian nation has already cleared vaccines made by Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and AstraZeneca Plc for emergency local use and ordered a total of 63 million doses from the two producers. The country is set to receive the first batch of 2 million doses of Sinovac vaccine on Wednesday that will allow it start a national inoculation program as early as next week.

Their North Korean invasive tracking model will produce a tourism boom to match North Korea's.  No doubt.

Hell of a lot of mulling and talking but very little action.

if the country and its leaders cant do a risk based analysis to allow vaccinated tourists into the country after a large portion of the thai population is vaccinated, well they might as well just build a giant wall around the Kingdom and give up.

The government needs to vaccinate the whole country first and thats going to take time!

This isn't the first time this idea has been mentioned (probably the 20th time), but it's interesting that it is the PM who is saying it this time.

Instead of ‘Mulling’ and continuously confusing everyone... Discuss & decide !!! - then let everyone know exactly what degree of information is required.

Most Vaccines include 2 doses: Do both doses need to be taken? (or is the first does sufficient?).

Various Vaccine - is any vaccine acceptable to enter Thailand under ?

What proof of vaccination is required ?

Says who? I've noticed that the people who state this are coincidentally already in Thailand on their retirement/marriage visa ...

Any farangs here will have to vaccinate to extend as visa Maybe not in  a medical exemption. Just get your jabs. There is hardly no downside.

Yes, I am happy to get vaccinated in Thailand and to pay for it. My point was that many Thaivisa posters seem to want to delay the return of tourism for as long as possible. Great for them ... not so good for those currently outside Thailand ...

I assume you are joking

This will not be Thailand's decision alone. It requires agreement of foreign countries too. Consider that many countries require returning travelers to self isolate or ban all air travel outright. Why travel to Thailand if one is obliged to self isolate 10 or 14 days on return to home, when easier destination available?

Thailand needs to make its country safe for visitors first. Thai government loves its China visitors, but needs to consider if other tourists will want to run the risk of mingling with the Chinese. Sorry to say but China has covered up its Covid19 pandemic. We still have no idea how many were infected, and why it was allowed to spread from China. I would be worried about Russians too because their pandemic is  hushed up and the Sputnik vaccine efficacy is not demonstrated. This means concern too for Thais and Europeans who have had the unproven vaccines.

You make some interesting points. However, as a potential tourist, it's up to me if I don't mind enduring quarantine when I get home, or mingling with other tourists. If I've had two shots of Pfizer, I'm not going to worry about catching covid whilst I'm in Thailand.

With all this mulling going on returnees may need to be identified very quickly????

Lol . pretty much the same everywhere, the situation is very fluid, and nobody wants to commit to anything. a mutation can come by tomorrow, and change everything.

I am optimistic.  I think by the end of this spring the quarantine will be eliminated or significantly reduced.

Or those Thais who derive their income from tourism.

That is NOT going to happen in my lifetime.

Considering all the increasing popularity of fake vaccine cerificates, the low efficacy of some vaccines against some variants and the risk of new resistant variants popping up, this is not such a great idea.

Ah, a different mullet. These would probably make better politicians (even from the plate).

They have already said that the vaccine will NOT prevent you from contracting the "virus", or spreading it.

So, what's the point of vaccination passports?

For people who haven't figured it out yet..

Vaccines are extremely profitable.

Pharmaceutical companies (and the politicians they have paid off), have wanted to implement a system whereby our freedoms are tied to our vaccination status for quite some time now.

Once "health passports" are in place, and your mobility rights can be tied to your vaccination status - pharma companies and their bought-off government shills can easily coerce you into rolling up your sleeve for as many injections as they want.

They can't even be sued for injuries/deaths either as they have a complete exemption from liability.

Quite the business model.

I can't believe so many "men" are willing to give up their right to bodily autonomy so easily.

It's so submissive and pathetic.
