Prayuth apologizes for spraying reporters with alcohol

Thai prime minister and defence minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has apologized for spraying reporters with alcohol santizer the other day.

The story was widely reported around the world with criticism being leveled at the Thai PM.

Though in Thailand this was seen in the context of Prayuth's love-hate and occasionally jesting relationship with the press.

This was reflected in just three short paragraphs and a headline from Daily News after Prayut was pressed on the issue after a meeting at the RTP HQ yesterday.

Prayuth said that he had been "too familiar" with "you lot" but he didn't mean any harm.

He said he wouldn't do it again and keep his distance in future and follow the rules. He apologised to everyone.

However, his true colors emerged when reporters pressed him on the negative press he had received around the world and asked him if he'd be more careful in future.

"Who was responsible for spreading the story then?" he snapped clearly blaming the press again.

"I was having a bit of fun and I won't be doing that again. Jop (Period)"

He then stomped off.

Daily News said that Prayuth was sulking in their headline.

Prayuth once wheeled out a cardboard cut-out of himself to answer questions at a press conference, notes Thaivisa.

The  above is the only reason he apologized, not because he was sorry for doing such a childish stupid thing, but because of world wide condemnation of his actions.

So you think spraying alcohol in a persons face, possibly blinding them is a joke, words fail me that any reasonable person could ever consider that a joke.

  • He IS the joke...an arrogant and incompetent child who believes only in himself

Still storming off like a true man-Child.  His apology was anything but one, it was an attempt to make an excuse for what he did and make it appear as if he had done so in jest.  Liar, liar, pants on fire, and you got burned good PM, not just here but Internationally as well.  You made your bed and now you must lay in it, sleeping with the dogs of war is not always fun.

It is clear that he is incapable of handling the pressures of office because he regularly behaves like a spoiled child. His ruling mob are busy infighting and he is increasingly exposed as lacking in emotional intelligence, economic savvy, and leadership ability. Find one major initiative that his administration has actually delivered apart from curfews, repression of reporters and similar bully boy tactics. All he knows is how emulate other insecure dictators and this leaves Thailand looking increasingly idiotic on the world stage.

He's no Stalin or Hitler, that's for sure; rather encouraging actually. The last thing you want is a competent psychopath in charge. He'll muddle his way through, I guess.

i am not sure but why do western countries feel entitled to critisize other non western countries on trivial issues?

clearly it was a joke, even the reporters present didnt take it any other way.

besides the knowitall westerners its also of course highlighted for political reasons by the red shirts and their comrades.

for the rest, this is Thailand, for sure hope the fun stays here and lets keep the negative pc attitude out of the country.

Where are the western countries praising thailand for their excellent covid management? dont think so, only are interested in blowing up trivial things.

Neither the spraying of the Reporters, or his mealy, apology are the actions of a World leader.

More like the actions of somebody who is completely out of their depth.

He was taken to task and splayed in the International papers and news because of his actions.  A man-child and a tantrum when he gets upset with being put on the spot, but then that's not much different from a few other PM's and world leaders. At least he did not have the media shot like the great Kim in N. Korea would do, or even poisoned like Putin might do, or even kicked out of a certain color house and removed from the reporters pool.  Spraying hand sanitizer that is alcohol based could have had serious effects and caused injuries to those he sprayed it at.  I see you have become a Prayut defender, well good luck with that.

Surely you are not being serious with your comment............Are you ?

"Who was responsible for spreading the story then?". This sentence alone make it all clear. He not mean to apologize. What he actually say is, if you not report, I can go on doing what ever I want. Blame all on those that show what happens. Not even the master of this kind of game, Donald Trump, could have done it better.

Prayut should resign for serving alcohol without a license.

I am quite certain the world will except his heart felt apology ! oh hang on his off on another tantrum and blaming the press again for questioning him !

What a lovely man.  I think I'll hang his picture on my wall.

In other news, I've had a stroke.

Who said that Thailand's prime minister in general or the incumbent prime minister in particular is a world leader?

His antics are more suited to a military parade ground than on a world stage.

I don't think he said sorry, all he did was he apologized, not the same thing.

He should apologise for breathing as he is the county's biggest Oxygen Thief !
