Thai PBS World Tonight [24th March 2021]

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha made a speech for the opening ceremony of the 2021 OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum, held in Paris, where he addressed their success on handling the COVID-19 pandemic and their efforts in tackling corruption.

In a pre-recorded video address, he announced that tackling the COVID-19 pandemic requires “collective effort” from all stakeholders, which has helped Thailand in responding to the pandemic effectively.

As a result, he said, Thailand has been recognised internationally for the successful management of COVID-19.

So Prayut is going to combat corruption.???? That is surely the exact same thing he said 6 years ago, yet corruption has only got a lot worse. So once again just more hot air from him.

"General Prayut also hoped that their anti-corruption efforts could be an example for other countries to tackle the issue."

How the hell this man can preach about fighting corruption beggars belief.....:whistling:

Dogwhistle. What our dear leader was actually saying is there is such a thing as OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum, and that he is sufficiently revered among other heads of government to be on it rather than it being a crumb he was handed and that he has enough power to make changes to it (which is very doubtful).

Also that he is a messenger for anti-corruption everywhere (especially at home, he would like you to think).

The realities may be slightly different.

Well, that will be a task.

Just to check one gov. department will take much longer than vaccinating the whole population.

It's not important what you say.

Important is, that you believe what you say.

He will have to appoint a new committee to oversee the old committees work first.

In a pre-recorded video address

No doubt heavily edited to delete his stumbling when he was roaring with laughter and Anutin was in the corner out of shot smoking a spliff singing on tik tok.

"PM vows to combat corruption on OECD forum"

Is there corruption on the OECD forum?

And today it was announced that the health minister is going to oversee the expansion of Swampy, one presumes because his billions come from construction envelopes, which begs the question what does the transport minister do, oversee the vaccination programme?

This belongs in the bin labelled 'Prayuts Broken Promises'; which must be overflowing by now !

If you want to control something you ask a person who is an expert in the field of discussion. eg banking ask an expert on banking , health ask an expert on health, corruption ask an expert  on corruption. The presentation though pre recorded would have covered every aspect right down to laundering the ill got gains even if they are in the billions of baht.

All tax free

He made a similar speech 6 years ago... still seems to be work in progress.... [very little progress]

Yep, he sure sorted out those lottery ticket vendors.

Wrong plenty of progress as they have consolidated it down to specific corruption that fills their own pockets faster, yet go after the low hanging fruit.

Nominated for "Post Of The Year".

Very much akin to asking the foxes to watch the hen house metaphor.
