i did not make it up. On WHO website is 0.28%.

You are discussing different 'rates'. There are several used for different purposes and have different meanings.

Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is the only one computed using actual confirmed cases and deaths. CFR= (total deaths) / (total recovered cases).  This is currently 2.6% (2904367÷110834204).

ThaiVisa reported yesterday that anyone from a high risk area entering Buriram will have to quarantine for 14 days. The problem that I see with that is "does Buriram have the facilities set up to house anyone in isolation and quarantine for 14 days or will they be told to quarantine at their home for the 14 days. With a main road going through Buriram between the main highway 2 (North-South Highway) and Surin, will those travelling that road be forced into quarantine in Buriram which would stop anyone from going to Surin and out further east to their homes. The Thai Government needs to take control of this and stop all provincial travel instead of passing the buck onto the provincial governors.

I read that korat is also requiring quarantine or a quick test that the person has to pay for

My family tells me that there are quite a few cases being reported in Ubon Ratchathani and Warin Chamrap.

I suspect that the numbers will skyrocket over the next few days.

FACTCHECK: I never claimed that any of the companies that are listed by Reuters (A news media organisation) which failed to list Ecohealth Alliance Inc as the company that has been contracted by the American Institue of Health to investigate the link with the bats for the SARS and MERS viruses since 2014 and it is a joint operation that was set up between the Obama administration through the National Institute of Health and China in 2014. If you want the facts then here is the National Institute of Health projects site which is the American Government official site and not a media outlet.

However, you have to be vaccinating people, unlike what Thailand has done so far. They have dragged their feet for whatever reason.  It also now has become apparent as to why they have not mass tested folks as well.  With just this current wave starting the hospitals are overwhelmed already.  God forbid this thing goes astronomical infection wise, not only field hospitals will be filled, but so will all of the current ASQ hotels as it seems they are thinking of using them as well for the Asymptomatic folks.  Is this the money maker Thailand wanted, I think not.  Tourism is now a thing of the past and of the very distant future in my book.

Just exited from DMK airport, no one screening/checking anybody flying domestically upon exit.   The flight coming in from Chiang Mai was 1/4th full.  We walked down to the departure terminal and it was very busy with folks arriving by taxi and inside the check-in area for the airlines was pretty full.  The mass exodus from BKK continues.

Many countries are in the same situation as we are here.  Some much worse.  Some countries in Africa might not see significant numbers of jabs until 2022!

The wealthy countries ponied up big money to get in the front of the line.  Sadly, many didn't have the money to do so, or didn't move quick enough.

All in all, we've been pretty lucky here.  I'd much rather be here than back home or in Europe.  Though that seems to be changing rapidly with the mass vaccinations they are doing.  Great work by them.

Any latest news today yet on bars being closed, any travel restrictions, etc?? Can't see any.

What time do the Thai gov get out of bed?

After speaking to the governor of Khon Kaen this morning in regards to what can open and what cannot open because we have a traditional Thai massage shop, we were informed that we could open but the other massage spa shops cannot open and he informed us that we must stick strictly to the rules that were laid down in June 2020 when we were allowed to re-open after being closed for 3 months. He also informed us of travel restrictions that have been put into place in 11 provinces and those travel restrictions are that anyone travelling from Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom and Nonthaburi and entering the provinces of Buri Ram, Chiang Mai, Phetchabun, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Songkhla, Roi Et, Amnat Charoen, Lamphun, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen and Bueng Kan are to be placed in immediate 14 day quarantine. I do not know how they are going to do this because it would mean that a road block would have to be set up at the province border and they would have to find accommodation there to use for quarantine and as the borders of the provinces are located out in the countryside there is no facilities to any accommodation. Another problem is that many roads to the north and northeast pass through many of these provinces, so are they going to turn the travellers around at there borders and send them back or will they allow the travellers to continue on their way and stop for food or fuel within the province which would defeat the purpose of the 14 quarantine.

Nice one. It isn't practical to put everyone in hotels for 14 days, then there is the question of who pays for it, so it aint happening! I assume they will instruct folk to stay at home for 14 days and maybe randomly check on them?

Any news on if 'restaurants' can still stay open and if they can sell alcohol?

Most countries can afford the vaccine, they just need to prioritise where government funds go

The wealthy countries also paid big money to get pharamaceuticals to work on a vaccine. Whether they should be at the front of the queue is open for debate.

Not so sure about that.  There are a lot of poor countries out there.  Hopefully, the wealthier ones will start sharing their surplus.  We need the world at herd immunity, not just a minority.  Otherwise, this thing will mutate and potentially get worse for years to come.

The UK variant as we know is far more infectious and indeed more deadly. The previous dithering on the outbreak now needs to take a serious turn with head on measures to combat this or face a dark period of severe lockdown later.

How do we know the UK version is more infectious and deadly?.......oh thats right the government told us????????????????

They are far from being braced as this weekend/holiday is showing!

Come the end of next week i suspect they will wish they had braced themselves

Many provinces are now mandating 14 day quarantine if coming from Bangkok. If flying to Samui, you have to take a pcr test.

The disturbing part of the Ecohealth/WIV collaboration is the technology transfer concerning gain of function research described in this article:

Next.

Shown by who exactly? Don't forget to roll up your sleeve and take the vaccine.....you know, the vaccine that hasn't been tested properly......all because the government told you it would be ok????????????????

The word in the Los Angeles Times is that the existing vaccines work on the variations.

You misunderstand. Article was to reassure people that vaccine worked against California variant. Vaccines work against variants, but with reduced efficacy.  The Brazil  P1 variant is now believed to be vaccine resistant, more than first  identified. And world expert consensus is that as long as population is unvaccinated, variants  will evolve that will be vaccine resistant.

What do you mean vaccine wasn't tested properly?  Which ones? I would agree if you are  making reference to China or Russia vaccines. The western mRNA vaccines are based on existing cancer treatment therapy and specific vaccine technology was in use for 10 years+. Oxford vaccine was in development since last SARS  pandemic. All of the western vaccines have undergone extensive clinical trials and have a safety record that is as good or better than common vaccines today.  The Oxford Asta Zeneca vaccine has been  administered to 200 million+ people, and there are an insignificant number of serious adverse reactions. When one considers the costs v. benefits, you are arguing that millions should be at risk with tens of thousands dying because  a relatively small number of people  develop a serious blood clot response. I make it simpler 10,000+ will die without vaccine while 1-10 may die because of vaccine.

Many people  have emotional response when vaccinated  - a psychological response. They are  of mental condition where if they are told that vaccine has side effect, they will believe they will have side effect. We now know that Russian and Chinese  based /backed groups are promoting claims of vaccine dangers. it is an obvious attempt to weaken the  free world.
