Siam Chon News reported that a sting by drugs suppression police at a condo in Moo 9, Pattaya, resulted in the arrest of a Russian methamphetamine dealer. 

 

The media said that Garanin K., 42, had got rich on selling drugs to tourists and bar girls - some of whom he exchanged drugs for sex - over the last six years.

 

He had a car and condo in the name of Thais. Five million in assets were seized.

 

He was caught in possession of two packets of "ice" (crystal meth) weighing 0.75 and 0.82 grams as well as drug taking equipment.

 

 

A sting to buy the smaller quantity was conducted and as soon as 1,000 baht was handed over and the drugs were given to the operative other officers swooped at the condo. 

 

Geranin K. is now in the custody of the Pattaya police charged with possession and dealing in a Class 1 drug and taking the drug and using marijuana (Class 5) also.

Why would some one smart put his condo in a Thai name? How did a 42 year old stay in Thailand - did he not do his 90 day reporting?

A farang selling drugs to Thais?........That is a 100% of the time guaranteed way to get caught.....

meth is a big problem in Thailand and police are doing their best to control it, and actually doing a good job.

America with its current out of control fentanyl and other hard drug problem could learn from Thailand.

I don't think anyone living in that place could be classed as rich. 

 

64 sq. m. one bedroom condo advertised for 1.8 million. Half that size studio for 700k.

 

One thing to have a habit; quite another to be selling it and using it on bar girls. 

 

 

I'm surprised that there wasn't a Thai dealer who turned him in.

Indeed, stay low profile and grease the right palms. I imagine that's the way to go. Selling to bar girls he must have been on their radar for some time. Times are hard, I suppose, time to call in the low hanging fruit. Whilst he's not rich, by any stretch of the imagination in a Western sense, 5 million baht is not to be sneezed at.

Bar girls are probably 90% of the customer base for Meth, so you think he was the only seller?

Meth is a BIG problem in Cambo, it's all over there now, real nasty stuff to deal with in the nightlife scene.

Good riddance! Laurie, my deceased friend, tried meth - and it stopped her heart.

If he is personally selling .75 of a gram for 1,000 Baht at a time, then it's unlikely that he is some kind of high profile Drug Lord
