lock it down.  one month.  better safe than sorry.  i don't mean close all the businesses, just ban inter-provincial travel and keep the hot spots from spreading.

What I would like to know is, what, after a year of treating patients with symptoms, is the recommended procedure when admitted to hospital? Very few seem to be dying despite the rising numbers.

Are doctors on top of this now after all the hit-and-miss earlier efforts of malarial drugs, on your back or on your stomach in a ventilator and all the other drugs used in the early days. What actually works? Surely after this length of time, variant-permitting, hospitals are better prepared, and not just in Thailand.

Never see any reports on current treatment.

Yes, a good question.

What is the recommended procedure in Thai hospitals or is this something they wont reveal to the media?

All rubbish about treatments!!!! I know where 2 people in an apartment near me having COVID 19, informed the govt hospital but no pickup and the reason was because the beds are full!!! They are a poor couple... so money no honey!!! The real infection, in treatment patients and deaths are TOTALLY UNDERSTATED!!! If you have the money.... Thai or foreigner - get the shots if you can afford it!!!! No use talking about - DO IT!!!

How can you now track and trace when the population has just spread out all over Thailand for Songkran.  I don't see this slowing or the holiday ending well in regards to covid. Just saw on the news a child being taken away by ambulance after testing positive

Hot spots will soon become the entire country I am afraid if this continues and spreads from Songkran travel.

Imagine if the hospitals had enough tests and beds and were not turning away people...we would have the real number...

Imagine if we had enough skilled people to do track and trace on these 967 new cases, let alone the thousands over the last week...we would have the real number.

The system is now completely overwhelmed. They really have no choice but to enforce a lockdown...

For many of the Thai people (remember this is their  country) a full lockdown would be absolutely  catastrophic on many levels.

The government has to find the right balance that suits as many people as possible, from all walks of life.

They also need to start convincing the population that the vaccines are safe because at the moment the fear factor surrounding them is rife.

I can already hear music from thousands of wats that invites people to celebrate.  This is not going to end well.

those figures of infected are under counted - already on friday hospitals run out of tests and the other did not want to do them, because they are understaffed.

Also on weekends the health system is not fully operational. That was also the case with reporting covid statistics in thailand or anywhere in he world.

as to treatment - a year ago thai doctors treated chinese positive tourists with tamiflu plus aids antivirals. Out of 3 patiens 2 of them cleared within a short time 2-3 days.

...

ps massage shops in 41 provinces are already closed since thursday. Now virus is in 62 provinces, so ban will be extended shortly.

The government needs to put a true stimulus in place for the country and not keep playing games and pocketing money. Sorry but as I and others have said it has always been Money first and people Last.

Lots of local parties on wifes FB this morning drinking, dancing, scoffing at the idea of a mask or considering the lives of the oldies they came to see.

Car after car with other province reg plates entered yesterday.

Real fear-of-death messages from poo yai again, wasting his breath.

Our Songkran resolution - stay home 2 weeks - other than go do 90 day in person thanks to no online system as yet.

What a shambles.

That horse has already left the stable. So irresponsible to allow interprovincial travel at Songkran which has doomed the country to a major outbreak which it is largely ignoring. With Bangkok as the epicenter, the city should have been locked down and placed under curfew.

4,314 receiving treatment? In hospitals? Good luck to Thailand if they're going to hospitalize everyone with Covid. Wouldn't surprise me though knowing people here goes to hospital to get drip and antibiotics just for a runny nose. Much better to quarantine people who are asymptomatic or not very ill at home so there are beds available for those who actually need help.

Yes, but on the other hand the numbers of cases comes high because so many people want to get tested in the aftermath of the eye opening "hiso" Thonglor cluster. It would be be much more interesting to report the infection rate as number of positives over number of tests carried out; the current spike would look less dramatic.

Do you live here in Thailand or elsewhere.  Thailand's way of dealing with this virus has always been to isolate a person in a hospital whether asymptomatic or symptomatic.  The other way they have dealt with it has been to place you in a field hospital and when symptoms showed up carted you off to the hospital.  The final way they dealt with it was to ring entire factories with barbed wire and lock all inside, just like they did with the migrant workers in Samut Sakhon.  It is done this way because in the early days of the virus spreading, folks that were asked to quarantine at home, think little ghosts as they are called, failed to follow the orders and then went out partying.  Thai people do not listen to orders or follow rules often, and the "I feel Fine" "What do you mean I can not go out" crowd will never be kept inside, and so mandatory hospitalization was enacted.  Think about all of those with little money who also share a 25 sqm apartment with 5 or 6 others, and rely on buying food from street vendors, and the local 7-11.  How would you isolate them in their home from the others and still get them the needed food.  Nice try Hoax, but the reality here is they are and will be hospitalized until this government decides to try again, but then those that live in crowded conditions must be separated to contain the spread.

The strain of Covid-19 found in Thailand among visitors to entertainment venues in Bangkok has the spike pattern that matches perfectly with the Cambodia strain.

Chulalongkorn University virology specialist Dr Yong Poovorawan said the latest strain does not match 100% with the British or other strains, but displays a 100% match with the Cambodia strain.

The Cambodia strain had been found spreading in Cambodia about 6 weeks before it was detected in Thailand. From this data, it is conclusive that the latest wave at entertainment venues is related to the Cambodia strain of the virus.
