This man will never be a real politician here. He talks too much truth.

Does it really matter how much he has made from it, he is speaking truthfully, something which is very unusual here.

His calculation isn’t complete without the gay scene and ladyboys.

  1. Where do the men who purchase sex come from ?

Foreign men are not the only ones who use women in prostitution in Thailand. Thai men use women in prostitution as well. As much as 80% of prostitution in Thailand caters to local Thai men.

It is estimated that 7 out of 10 foreign men coming to Thailand engage in the sex industry. Men range in age and come from all over the world, with most coming from North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Many countries offer sex tours to Thailand. Central Asian women in prostitution provide services mostly to men from the Middle East and India. In 2012, tourism statistics indicated that about 8 million foreign men participated in the sex industry in Thailand.

Have you actually considered his claim, at all? If what he says is the truth, then off the top of my head, the majority of women under 40 are sex workers, this is not factoring in the ugly fuglies that no one would pay to poke. It's nonsense. I've known it was nonsense after some christian missionary group decades ago claimed there were 500,000 sex workers in Thailand and I did the maths on that and quickly realised it didn't add up, unless of course, you can get your head around missionary groups are just fundraising back home.

Is this what we colloquially call fake news?

So he's like the Thai Hugh Hefner?

Never heard of him, but I already like him.

Calls a spade a spade .

Well perhaps not quite like Hugh Heffner and he was known to do a few things that were dubious to the extreme but I have no doubt that he still holds a grudge given his earlier ambitions and prior to that resentment about being arrested when he had wrongly assumed all in his influence were happy at being handsomely paid off.  As I said in an earlier post stayed at his hotel many times.  Yes I bet his portfolio is bulging with info on past and present persons. He made no secret of what he was doing and I admire him for that.

No quite sure of your maths here. With a population of around 70 million then around 10 million of those will be female aged between 18 and 40. 10% in the sex trade? That does sound high. 5% or 500,000? Could be nearer the truth. Don't forget foreign sex workers, rent boys and ladyboys; that can add quite a lot to that figure as well.

Not in Pattaya.

So your argument is that Pattaya is a good representation of Thailand as a whole ?

Or any where else for that matter as having sex is as natural as taking a dump

And how much have you made from it over the years, Chuwit???

He's never denied that he made a good living from it, although he got out of the business many years ago.  He can call it out now without hypocrisy.

So all foreigners that use prostitutes are free from blame?

Blame for what?

Sex, drugs, and rock and roll, or is it pop culture and rap now.

Regardless, it has been here always and yet never admitted to only that they are working on family friendly venues for tourists.

The issue is it is not just tourists that utilize these services but many in the government, and there lies the big issue and problem.

I'd add not that it is not only tourists but rather that it is overwhelmingly local Thais powering the sex trade as it has been for many, many decades. It's common knowledge that Thai young men have their first sexual experiences via pay to play.

It's ridiculous to suggest the women would not be selling themselves if but for the foreign tourists.

Very interesting. Although...everyone staying in Thailand for more than two weeks, an IQ above 75 and reasonable eyesight could have made that observation.

The hiso clubs' facilities and underage, trafficked prostitutes are not obvious to the demographic you reference regardless of their IQ or eyesight.

Wow. A politician speaking the truth. Watch out! Those green humvees are around the corner!

Why do you attach blame to something entirely natural?

Maybe Chuwit could take a walk around Pattaya with the local fuzz and show them who he means, for they say there are none on their turf.

No, that is incorrect, no RTP representative in Pattaya or government official has ever stated that "there is no prostitution in Pattaya".

None of his professors argued with his claims in the paper, he said, because he knew what he was talking about far better than them.

They probably only kept mum because they knew ALL TOO WELL that Chuwit's paper was correct... the majority among them being avid "mia noi" financiers as well as regular "health spa" customers.

"...the majority of women under 40 are sex workers".

Chuvit did not say anything like that, those are your words.

So out of the 12 million or so women aged between 15 and 45, one million are in the sex trade? That's give or take 8% of all adolescent to menopausal women working in the sex trade. Really? I don't think so.

Surely its tightening up now during Covid - the industry I mean!

Now that I am now out of the sex trade & made hundreds of milions out of it, knocked down 35bars overnight ruining peoples business & the lives of those that worked there (This move was aided by the army at the time)

I will spill my guts & stop   (His estimate is way too low) the millions making any money out of it if he gets his dirty mouthed way.

The man is a Charlatan, & arguably derranged

I do like this guys honesty, lol

Yes that number is probably accurate. But the sex trade doesn't hurt anybody. It provides massive tourist dollars and supports people up country.

It will never go away and if it did this country would be in even worse shape than during covid.

Not just tourists? Tourists and expats combined constitute a very very small percentage of the industry. It's integral to Thai society

I remember this YouTube documentary put out by some NGO years ago. They began by filming in the BKK airport, showing all the excited tourists getting off the planes. The narrator then said, "So many young men. Why do they come here? What are they doing to the country's young women?" Haha. I busted up.

Despite all the guys in the airport, could there really be any more than those native to the country? That's been the customer base for hundreds of years. Given the extreme inequality and lack of social mobility, it's one of the few options these women and their families have.

A former colleague of mine, another foreign teacher, had an ongoing relationship with a mid level govt official. Her mom put a stop to it, saying it could only continue with marriage if she were to receive 10k a month. That was her daughter's price. After he said he couldn't do this on his teacher's salary, she was put on the market again to local Thai men. I later heard that someone else was making those payments.

Here in the moo ban, a neighbor down the road had a boyfriend whom we sometimes helped sneak around. A good guy, decent salary from BKK, though her family didn't approve of him. His salary wasn't quite enough. He bought her a new motorbike, and instead of being greatful were offended that this was all he thought she was worth. So after a few more years of scraping cash together, he was able to make a down payment and pay monthly for a new Toyota pickup. With this, their new son-in-law was welcomed with open arms. Haha. Yes, Thailand's women are indeed for sale, not only in the sex trades.

I got a great deal on my older, divorced wife. ???? Much better attitude, affection, and work ethic than the hotter, younger ones anyway.
