Coronavirus vaccinations on the islands

About vaccinations for foreigners, Nicha has posted this evening (26th May) on Facebook...

???????????? Nicha just got vaccinated today (Sinovacc), arrived at Bangkok Hospital at around 7:30 to get a queue and found out that there were already around 350 people in front of me ????. (I asked an official what about the date for foreigners in Samui, I was told it will be available on the 1st of June at the International School of Tourism only)

For this new lot, there's an additional queue for checking whether we are really living on the island and have a right to get a vaccine. I'm told last time there were some people sneaking in from other provinces just to get an vaccine and back to their provinces, not really living here Hmmm). Therefore for Thais who don't have the address of Samui or Pha-ngan on their ID cards but live/work here like me will have to line up to check if we have a Social Security or photos showing that we live/work in Samui. After getting the right confirmed, then waited to be called to get vaccinated. We were asked to sit in a provided area next to the exit to notice symptoms after the vaccination about 10 mins, if no symptoms then you are good to go. I went there around 7:30 and got injected around 11am.

Back home, the only thing that I felt in the afternoon was "tired" like could easily fall asleep by just sitting on a chair ????. Not sure if it was because of the side effects of the vaccine or just simply from the fact that I just had lunch, waking up early and spent hours waiting to get vaccinated in an outdoor area ????
For foreigners who managed to register for a vaccine here, since it's not clear yet what sort of documents they may require on the vaccine day, in my opinion, it could be useful to bring a document like work permit/ residence certificate/ company's document or even Water or PEA's invoice/ receipt Samui with your name on could be useful, just in case.

Anybody has more information about this to share with us would be very appreciated ka ????????

Comments to Nicha's post...

When I got mine in samui I had to show the TAX ID from my company to get the vaccine, so they should be able to check the address of the company.

The last time we lined up for the 1st jab, we were asked to present the SSO ID; for those foreigners under Retirement Visa, they were asked to present their Tax ID.

To clear out any misunderstanding, this is the Sinovac jab for those who are under 60 years old.

The jab for those who are over 60 years old is the AstraZeneca one and it will be given on the 7th of June

GF just came home after having her vaccination. She said two women had adverse reaction while she was waiting and had to go to hospital.

It doesn't come unexpectedly after there has been pandemic outbreak in other parts of Thailand.

As a retiree I am ok with having to wait a few more weeks if it means that people who can not avoid exposure to the public gets the jab instead. I can stay home - they can't.

The problem is not just Samui.

From the Thai Enquirer -

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) last week asked people to “slow down” their vaccine registration via the Mor Phrom Application due to limited supply of vaccines.

The locally produced AstraZeneca vaccine will reportedly not be delivered in June as scheduled.

I've just got my AZ-appointment checked for us ancient beings at June 7th in the University building (only place), it's so far still on schedule...????????

No vaccinations today 01/06,  apparently they ran out of vaccines. Our Thai neighbour tried to get vaccinated yesterday,  no vaccine for her too.

I have an appointment for June 8th at Koh Samui hospital, booked through the app linked to my pink card. As I'm over 60, this should be the Astra Zenica... no message of cancellation(yet)

All others have to my knowledge appointments for Monday June 7th, which should be the only day for old folks and AZ, are your sure it's the 8th..?

That is what the app says, translated to: '08 June 2021. Vaccination booking information. Location: Koh Samui Hospital. Time 16:00'

I booked some weeks ago. I seem to remember the first available date was the 7th (may be why it's popular) and that I chose the 8th (not sure why!).

I think that it was called 'haveadayoffitis.'

I had a reaction to the Pfizer jab, not an allergic reaction.  Had had a slight fever and malaise - a bit like when a cold is starting. However nothing more than that. It was more pronounced after the second jab. The reaction occurred about 48 hours after the jab, the second one I took 2 paracetamol. the effects were over within 24 hours. Sore arm lasted a bit longer.

At no time did I regret having the jabs.

A Thai friend of mine spent 3 nights in the same hospital after the 2nd jab (chills and fever), then had to quarantine at home for 2 weeks. He is OK now though.

I have just been informed by a friend that there is a letter on the gates of the University apologising to foreigners and stating that vaccinations for them are postponed indefinitely.

Has anyone else heard or seen this?

Has anyone received a response from immigration?

I was told they only received 200 doses of the AZ vaccine and don't know when they will receive further allocation .. Maybe next month .

I received my SMS from the Smart Samui app an hour ago - same same.

Just have the (long???) wait for the appointment SMS.

I also received SMS notification this morning ... They are double checking those that register are actually living here , which is why immigration are involved .

They are tightening up the procedure as many from Surat , perhaps with a 2nd home , were coming here to try register for the vaccine .

The appointments issued for tomorrow are cancelled .

I have been told that Sinovac has now been approved for over 60's in Thailand so we may be offered that .

There is a 1 new case of Covid on Samui today .
