None of my relatives over there have died of it.

I don't know anyone in NZ had it, but that's probably because hardly anyone has. If they didn't keep telling me how many in quarantine have it I'd think there wasn't any at all, given no one acts as if there is where I live. Masks- what are they?

I've lost a relative in the UK from it, though I'll give you that he wasn't well before.  He was stable though, no real change for years, Covid pushed him over the edge.

You know what? Now there are no hordes of Chinese tourists spitting around. Taxi drivers don't just drive off or ask for ridiculous figures to driver you 1 km up the road, in fact you can just get in

Out here in the sticks there is very little change to anything other than wearing a mask. Life goes on, same same. In the "red zones" of course life is very different.

Depends entirely on where you are and your lifestyle. (IMHO)

I agree with you with one additional observation. Many of the pretty ladies have returned home from Pattaya and a few have got jobs in my nearest PTT station and Tesco Lotus Express store. My wife is getting a little suspicious why I fill  the car up daily and now have a house full of bread, eggs, coke you name it. she keep saying why do you keep buying so much, you only go there for a short time - I wonder why she guessed  ????

Not if they don't offer vaccinations to everyone it won't.

Without herd immunity we will just keep going around and around in never ending circles.

I don't believe it will end, always be variants, mutations.Covid will become like the annual flu,so get used to vaccinations every year, and lockdowns every time the virus pops up in some community.

Annual shots probably.

More lockdowns probably not.

Ah yes, but which way up will it be?

Every day a new law comin out and NEW strains popin up out of nowhere.

Exactly which recent laws make a difference to your life?

Temporary mask wearing?

Temporary restaurants and bar closed?

What else?

Lots of Covid related restrictions are all over the world. And mostly they are there to protect us all.

And Thai immigration regulations are harmless compared to many of our home countries and foreigners who want to live there.

That's why I won't be booking any flights untill I see how things pan out.Its being reported in the Dutch and UK media that flights and holidays will be more expensive than people expect.

I'm living in north Laos, a few minutes outside of Luang Prabang.  I have always been interested in self-sufficiency and off-grid living, relying on others as little as possible.  I've signed up for Elon Musk's Starlink internet, which will cover Laos from early next year.  When that happens, I'm moving about 20km out of town to a plot next to the Mekong River, where I plan to build a nice little house, with my 150 Mb/sec Starlink internet service and solar power/water heating, plus grow my own healthy veggies etc.

Oh, the hordes of Chinese who are expected to visit LP after the railway line opens later this year won't affect my tranquility.  Chinese tourists are not known for enjoying the simple country life ????

One thing....I've never seen so many Thais want to leave. They are usually proud of their country and unless they are absolutely forced to they prefer to stay.

But it's becoming like Phillipinz now. They just want to run away.

There's a worldwide shortage of ingredients to make vaccines.  Thais aren't experts at Supply chain management.  It's not their fault.

My Thai wife has been getting a TON of messages from prior class mates and friends back home asking how they can move abroad and get out of Thailand the easiest.  It really does feel like they have given up hope in the short-term with this current government in place.

I don't know about your country, but I know about mine and those i read about in the news, and it sounds to me the they don't make a new law every day, but more like twice a day.

And not only that, but when they announce anything, like for example the stimulus program in the US, completely unrelated new laws are hidden in the text.

You think it's better there?

Dang you're right! ... them darn' commie/pinko Democrats are so evil.

Curious where you think it's less regulated i.e. better? My experience of living in quite a few countries in my 64 years of life is that LOS is a dream compared to the regulated Empire country I hail from. As for other free countries like the US, or Europe I've lived loved and worked in LOS is a paradise for anything you want to do, and you can do it in a terribly loud Hawaiian shirt 12 months of the year lol ????????????

How are you trapped?

I visited my family in January, admittedly after a long wait for borders to reopen. And my family is now visiting me in my country.

How much is the bar shop fine? ????

Seems likely. Pfizer already has a single-dose booster that in early testing is showing great results against the recent variants.

I agree with Charlie H, very little changes in the bush, a la Isaan village, even during the nationwide lockdown last year life continued much as normal.

If you choose to live in the big cities, then of course you suffer the consequences.

I have to agree with you Sir.

Spanish Flu, 1918-1919, 50 million deaths, average age 28 yrs.

Covid 19, UK average age of death 82, with co-morbidity.

Yes and upon arrival be told "sorry you have to do 14 days isolation" plus on return the same.Even with a vaccination there will still be outbreaks. Not a time to travel.
