Delivery guy goes to the cops with sad tale of how a "sideline" girl took 14,000 baht then blocked him!

Sanook reported that a 24 year old food delivery guy called Prawet went to the Muang Loei police to complain that a woman he chatted with on Twitter had taken 14,000 baht of his hard earned money then blocked him.

 

He explained to the cops that the woman said she was a sideline girl.

 

This is a woman who has a regular job or is a student who offers sexual services on the side, notes Thaivisa (who asked a friend).

 

Pol Lt-Col Ruangyot Phudanu expressed sympathy for Prawet's plight but said this was paying for prostitution which was illegal and he couldn't file a complaint about it.

 

He'd just have to chalk this one down to experience and take it on the chin.

 

Before he left the station he told Sanook the details.

 

The woman - now he understood - had strung him along after contact started on May 2nd. 

 

She first asked for 1,000 baht to be transferred so that she would tell him the price. 

 

He was spurred on because she was very beautiful, right up his thanon (street). 

 

Then she asked for 2,000 baht more. 

 

This did not deter Prawet. He complied.

 

Then it was 2,000 baht "for insurance".

 

Then a 4,500 baht "deposit".

 

Finally she wanted paying 4,500 baht.

 

Prawet made all the transfers then found himself blocked.

 

As Sanook said: he didn't so much as get to put his arms around his sideline girl.

 

"It's my monthly wages" he bemoaned". 

 

"Now I have no money to eat and have to sign at the restaurant to get a bite. And I don't have money for my motorcycle repayments".

 

With that he left the police station, turned on the ignition on his bike and went back to his delivery round. 

 

14,000 baht light but, perhaps, a little wiser.

Sideliners are a longstanding Thai staple, rarely engaged by foreigners as they typically speak only Thai, and are not interested in foreign clients.

Am I missing something? He makes thb 14'000 per month, spends it on a woman, complains he has now financial problems. He went to the police because he did not get anything in return. Would his actual financial situation look any different had he got something in return?????????

That's freelancers.  They're basically bar girls who either; don't want to commit to the regular hours of a "normal" bar girl or, can't get employed as one (bad reputation maybe).  Sideliners have a life outside the "industry" (job, student, wife, etc.) but also do a bit of harmless shagging for extra money.
