My sons two bed condo was 3•750 million some good few years ago I don't know what the govt are on about 10,000,000 baht condo's, maybe penthouses.

Personally I don't spend that much I think (my wife would disagree though ????), but my business supports several Thai businesses. If contributing to the Thai economy were a criteria for getting a visa, I would probably deserve it easily.

Well in the last two years I've only transferred over 200,000 baht per annum. The wife has an investment that nets her 30,000 a year and her homestay has a handy net profit (when not shutdown due to COVID). I'd say we live quite okay on about 450,000 baht per annum. No debts, no drinking/smoking/gambling, wife owns the land/house/business, 1 car, 1 wife and 2 Labs. We live in a remote rural northern location. She hasn't been out of the province for the last two years and I've only had two day trips out over the same period. Our days of international work/living/travelling are done and we are not missing it.

600-700,000 baht I guess - but I seem to spend most of our spare money after rent and bills and school on facebook marketplace - which is OK by the wife as it's not going on other women !

I follow a similar path to you and spend around 1.2 million baht per annum, but that does include about 200,000 baht given to my daughter to pay for her accommodation and university, north of Bangkok.

 

I should try and cut down, being a single man, but there again I'm 74 now, so whenever I get worried about my spending, I console myself with the fact that I won't have to worry for too much longer, so enjoy it whilst I can!

We have no rent/mortgge, eat or order out at least 3 times a week, enjoy about 1-2K worth of wine a month so 2-3 bottles 555. Hi all, well let's start, firstly I don't pay rent, bar girls, plus I drink mainly at the home which I own. These factors signifcantly reduce costs, of course we socialise but people need to understand,  are you a tourist or a pisspot bar fly. Let's face it most of us are a little to old for that. Why don't we enjoy our retirement gracefully. That comes from 25 years li.ving in Pattaya. Cheers guys.

I am retired in Thailand because I cannot afford to live a like standard of living in my own country. Yank with Thai wife and her Daughter. We go through my monthly required income of 65,000 + a month. Each of the last 4 years, safely over one million baht a year.

The other key difference is that we’re bringing “outside” money if you’re not working.  It is a direct injection of capital without taking opportunities away from Thais, whereas someone working is essentially just moving the same Thai money around. 

It used to be about two million but when they started acting like tw@ts with the TM 30 nonsense I stopped traveling around and now with the Chinese virus it's down to about one million

Have to agree, with a large family and kids in semi-private schools, private health insurance for all, car and house insurance, eating well, mostly farang food, clothes, domestic trips, just this side of a mil per year, but I budget on around 70k baht a month, 200k baht sounds like a lot, although we don't rent or owe money.

 

I could afford to spend 200k a month, but why waste it, I would prefer to have it as a backup, for maybe when we go on an overseas trip or buying a new car, but then again, depends on how much one is worth, or how quick one wants to run out of money ?
