The divorce can't be making him happy after 25 years with the same woman.

On the contrary!  By this stage all the anguish will be long over for both of them.

He keeps coming round to complain about his wife.

She keeps coming round to complain about her husband.

The very definition of a happy couple, no?

Where can you find a   one bed condo in BKK for only 10,000,000?

My sons two bed condo was 3•750 million some good few years ago I don't know what the govt are on about 10,000,000 baht condo's, maybe penthouses.

Personally I don't spend that much I think (my wife would disagree though ????), but my business supports several Thai businesses. If contributing to the Thai economy were a criteria for getting a visa, I would probably deserve it easily.

152230 per year is health cover  74 years young

That sounds like good value!  What does it cover?

600-700,000 baht I guess - but I seem to spend most of our spare money after rent and bills and school on facebook marketplace - which is OK by the wife as it's not going on other women !

4 Kids in a reasonable school , 2 Cars and quality family health insurance pushed my spending north of 5m a year!

After 25 years, it is not likely the same woman...

Perhaps he  gives to charity.

i strongly suspect he counts buying condo/house/car as spending, and skipped on resale value

I like good cheeses and buying Stilton is damn expensive, although the NZ Mainland cheeses and some good French Camembert make it to my fridge on a regular basis.

Mainland Tasty, special offer at Makro, 245bht for 500gm.

I have not attacked you, but you have attacked me.  It does not matter what the OP is about you always seem to try and slam everything and anything I write.  Agree to Disagree and log out if you don't like it.  To continually drone on and on is the true sign you enjoy baiting people.  Adios Amigo.

That is why I put him on "ignore" a few years back.

"Surly that's worth a annual extension with no questions asked."

Out of context. You are reading something in that phrase that is not there.

Maybe OP from the USA.

When you order food online (mail-order) is that foreign brands? I ask because Im a bit tired of paying +$10 for breakfast cereal. Though with the baht tanking that will not get better. It seems up or down, we cant freaking win!

We have no rent/mortgge, eat or order out at least 3 times a week, enjoy about 1-2K worth of wine a month so 2-3 bottles 555. Fly or drive about every 2-3 months for short breaks, And I agree that the monthly retirement requirement of B65K more than covers both our expenses with 20K or so to spare.

Yes mostly UK brands at the moment  use Siamburi's online partner, https://expatfoodsthailand.com/

The others are ok too but I find Siamburi's cheaper and a wider range.

Here you go. https://expatfoodsthailand.com/product-category/groceries/breakfast-cereals/

Hi all, well let's start, firstly I don't pay rent, bar girls, plus I drink mainly at the home which I own. These factors signifcantly reduce costs, of course we socialise but people need to understand,  are you a tourist or a pisspot bar fly. Let's face it most of us are a little to old for that. Why don't we enjoy our retirement gracefully. That comes from 25 years li.ving in Pattaya. Cheers guys.

About 1.5 million for me.  Would be hard to track however as some goes into the pockets of...  Well, you know who.

And, I expect nothing in return as I think I get a lot from it.

1.5 for me too

I am not surprised therefore, that was at first I thought anecdotal: farangs are rich, is actually true!

It is a little more difficult for me as I have to rely solely on my charm and wit!

I am retired in Thailand because I cannot afford to live a like standard of living in my own country. Yank with Thai wife and her Daughter. We go through my monthly required income of 65,000 + a month. Each of the last 4 years, safely over one million baht a year.

It used to be about two million but when they started acting like tw@ts with the TM 30 nonsense I stopped traveling around and now with the Chinese virus it's down to about one million
