A vaccination program for the Chinese has begun in Bangkok.

The Sinovac vaccine - 500,000 doses in the first lot in total - is being used.

A total of 100,000 Chinese living in Thailand who are registered with the Chinese embassy will be getting priority over everyone else.

Others will be Thais students or officials who are planning to travel to China.

DPM Anutin Charnvirakul - who earlier this year brokered this deal with the Chinese - was at a clinic in Bang Rak yesterday along with stand - in for the ambassador Mr Yang Xin, health officials and secretary general of the FDA.

Anutin was effusive in thanking his Chinese friends for the donated vaccine that in total amounts to a million doses.

The event comes as many foreigners of different nationalities living in Thailand are asking:

What is our government doing for us?

And when can they get in line for a vaccine from the Thai government.

In an earlier report Anutin - also Thailand's health minister - praised the long friendship of the Thais and Chinese.

Any gratitude for the original virus?

It is actually a bit impressive that this is happening.  Should I email the British Embassy and ask them  when and where I will get mine?

Their welcome to their The Sinovac vaccine, I'd rather take my chances and go without.

'stand - in for the ambassador'  is he a clone?

Chinese are faster out of the gate vaccinating their own nationals than Thailand is putting together a live, ongoing vaccination program of its own.

Sheesh...

Swiss embassy: we can not export vaccine to other countries. Would breach contract with suppliers. Might comprise further supply.

And now in the last line the patron-client relationship is described as "friendship".

If he was a neurosurgeon he wouldn't need a pen, perhaps he could communicate telepathically?

In line with my experience last year in India, I'm expecting to receive a questionnaire from the Australian embassy with content like this:

We are considering vaccinating the Australian citizens living permanently in Thailand. How much are you prepared to pay:

A. Below $500 AUD

B. Between $500-1000 AUD

C. Above $1000 AUD.

Then after 2 weeks I would get a follow up email like this:

"Unfortunately nobody is prepared to pay above $1000,  and anything below is not commercially feasible, so find your own way to get vaccinated"

as I said on another post, this is a double-edged sword, anybody wanting to visit China MUST have been vaccinated with a Chinese vaccine  555

So compared to its population size (China is 19 times larger compared to Thailand), China did awesome regading covid19, if you consider that Thailand now has more confirmed cases compared to China. Does it mean their vaccine is a huge success, and they have no more active cases? ???? Or someone thinks we are totally stupid and we can't see what may be going on.

In fact, this makes sense.

Vaccines should be given to nationals of foreign countries at their respective embassies.

Why not?

Last I looked there were only around 50,000 brits registered living in Thailand.

They could do us all within a week at the embassy in BKK, its big enough!

Where are you, Brian? ????

So PC  or should that be PRC is where they are.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Cambridge University. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, French and rusty Lithuanian and is currently studying Thai. Brian married his husband, Scott, in 2014 in one of the first same-sex marriages performed at the British Embassy Beijing. They are now the happy parents of three children.

At nearly 14M doses given daily there, they are doing pretty well.

You'd  be  far  better to do  this by telling them you are gay or  trans when seeking  vaccination  as  this seems  to be a higher  priority these days.

I think the title is misleading (shock, horror!).

It does not say that the Chinese government are vaccinating their citizens. They are supplying Sinovac and Chinese citizens registered with the Chinese embassy in Thailand will receive priority.

It is not an embassy initiate, simply a queue jumping exercise in exchange for a million doses.
