PHUKET: A delegation from the British Embassy in Bangkok arrived in Phuket yesterday (May 27) to discuss with Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew and other leading provincial figures having British Navy personnel visit Phuket in late July to early August.

The delegation was led by Col Tony Stern, Defence Attaché at British Embassy Bangkok.

The plan is to have some 420 British Royal Navy personnel visit as part of an outreach program to help foster relations between the UK and Thailand, said a report by the Phuket office of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket).

It was actually a spoof by not the Nine O'clock News I believe that had:-

  • Seaman Staines
  • Master Bates
  • and Roger the Cabin Boy.

As a wee lad I did enjoy the adventures of Captain Pugwash.

Did the scammers live?

If so the RN is rather different to my day ????

We wouldn't actually have killed anyone (well not deliberately anyway), but PTSD would have sent them scuttling for cover at the mere sight of an RN uniform.

Appears to be elements of the UK Carrier Strike Group: carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth II; type 45 destroyers, HMS Diamond and Defender; type 23 frigates, HMS Richmond and Kent; an Astute-class submarine; Royal Fleet Auxiliary support ships, RFA Fort Victoria and RFA Tidespring.

Embarked will be 3700 personnel, 32 aircraft, including F35 lightning (617 Sqn RAF), Merlin helicopters (820 & 845 Naval Air Sqn) and Royal Marines from 42 Cdo RM.

Other nations will join the UK Carrier Strike Group for an exercise in South East Asia, Exercise Bersama Lima, in October 2021, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Five Power Defence Agreement (FPDA) between Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Well, if they are similar equipped as the UK police, they would not be able to without guns

The pride of the British Fleet the brand new aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth left UK for a tour of Asia a couple of days ago.

As "Encore" mentioned could be that battle group that is visiting.

That would be a sight to behold  1988766805_FlagWaving.gif.95d33d2c61a1a8de57c741d641022ac9.gif

Given the numbers mentioned (400 or so), it will be one of the escort vessels, probably a Destroyer, not the QE itself.

Absolutely the QE is manned by 1,600 personnel

The serviceman sure looks excited about getting a chance to meet those ladyboys, but the Thai rep seems bored hearing about his interest in them.

Let's hope there are no Corivirus restrictions on when they arrive

Well from now on then any short time interactions with gogo dancers or bar girls should be described as participating in the nations outreach programmes.????

Quite possibly it originated on the wireless, I'm sure I remember it on TV, but that could be a false memory it was a long time ago.
