H.E. Mr. Andrii Beshta, Facebook: Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Thailand

Ukrainian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Andrii Beshta, died of a heart attack Sunday, and his death was not COVID-19 related, according to Satun provincial authorities.

The 45-year-old diplomat died in the early hours of Sunday morning, while vacationing on the resort island of Lipe, in the southern province of Satun. According to his son, who stayed in the same hotel room, the ambassador was vomiting and lost consciousness before his death.

A swab test for COVID-19 was negative, said Satun Governor Ekarat Leesen.

Heart attack at 45 and seems to be healthy looking person? not unheard of but when it comes to the eastern block politics one can never sure, i put my money on poisoning, autopsy will clear things up but i assume there will not be one done in Thailand if at all...

Check them door handles sounds suspect ????

Food poisoning?

Beshta’s son told island cops that his ambassador dad went to sleep around 11 p.m. Saturday, then woke up at 4:30 a.m. violently ill.

Usually required when a foreigner dies in Thailand if not in a hospital.

Ambassadors likely to be treated differently I would expect.

Irrespective of nationality, origin or gender - 45 is a little early from every aspect.

Was a diplomat of another country in the same hotel the night before - just asking?

Or is it the possibly five-folded dual pricing to access  the island?

At least he didn't fall off a balcony...

Must have been the shrimp.

It's easy to imagine how an elderly 45 year old could die naturally of a heart attack on a place as stressful as Koh Lipe. RIP.

The ambassador's body was taken to the Police General Hospital in Bangkok at 2.30am before being sent to the CIFS for an autopsy.

Sounds somehow strange. Reminds me of Novichok, used for Nawalny or the guy in UK.

However we will not know definitely.

Been there.

Im surprised some men still doin Mullet haircut.

On a second thought maybe this was a reason he got "heart attack"

It happens ,friend of our sons ,dropped dead ,of a heart attack a month ago ,just keeled over ,never even knew he had a problem ,they tried cpr ,but to no avail he was 26

Vomiting is an unusual symptom of a heart attack, particularly in men. I would be suspicious.

This sounds to me like a very bad case of seafood food poisoning, (shellfish).

Interesting if there will be any follow up reporting on the poor chap's demise

Its actually very usual. Along with early mornings.

When I read this report, the first thing I wondered was -- had their resort hotel by any chance recently sprayed their room/rooms for bed bug prevention. Thailand loves its chlorpyrifos.

My friend in Phuket - stroke, 45 years old, paralyzed 50% of body, cannot speak. Just a businessman. He was lucky to get to the hospital very quickly.
Yes, it can happen to everyone. Take care of your health, guys.
