So why publish 5,000 cases yesterday?

Because cases are rising and that is a fact that can’t be hidden completely, only “managed”.

there’s no proof (other than the prison cases that were unreported for weeks), so it’s just an opinion/observation, made slightly tongue in cheek.

no need to get your underwear twisted.

Well, no surprise as the Asians are all FACE obsessed societies.

That aside, the maligned World Health Organisation cried out at the start of this China-started pandemic that it was not appropriate to call the virus the China Covid virus or Wuhan Covid virus or similar.

They then proceeded to be OK with naming all the variants after the countries they were first detected in.

All these people are absolute morons.

I think WHO finally got round to changing it today. Greek letters are being used, alpha, beta, delta etc.

Many Thais were shocked and frustrated at international news reports identifying a “Thai variant” of COVID-19 last week. Among them was Medical Sciences Department director-general Dr. Supakit Sirilak,

Well the UK news said that in future the variants are all Greek.....

Alpha, Beta, Gamma etc.....I just wish it was Omega

You point to the fact that the poor don't take the MRT. Quite so they take sangteows and buses and go to local markets. The person mentioned is a cleaner.

That person was a cleaner working for the MRT, not riding on the MRT !!!  My point as you are well aware , is that the poor can not ride on the MRT. Of course they are employed clearing up behind those that do ride.

Forgive me for being suspicious, but that is a very dramatic drop in daily numbers. Did they run out of tests?

No; first they ran out of fingers and then their one fingered calculator !

You gotta give it to them, they are smart and the plan is working.

A. 117,000 foreign made AstraZenica vaccines arrive and are given to Prayut and ever person that is connected to him. Happy times.

B. Go cheap and purchase Sinovac as a quick stopgap measure so we can all pretend the vaccine rollout is going to plan. Happy times.

C. Start pumping out the local made AstraZenica by the 100 millions and watch the cash machine spin in the right pockets. VERY HAPPY TIMES!

The only 'smart' plans they are ever any good at are Corrupt ones !

Thai Medical Sciences Department approves first 14 batches of locally-produced AstraZeneca vaccine

The first 14 batches of AstraZeneca vaccine, produced by Thai pharmaceutical company Siam Bioscience, have passed the quality tests of the Thai Department of Medical Sciences.

The department director-general, Dr. Supakit Sirilak, said that samples of the first five lots of AstraZeneca vaccine and the next nine lots, sent to the department by Siam Bioscience, have met the department’s quality standard, following tests.

He said, however, that the department is waiting for a summary production protocol from the drug company before it can issue the release document for use.

Local Covid vaccine ‘ready for clinical trials

The locally developed Covid-19 vaccine – ChulaCov19 – will be ready for human trials this month after proving to be effective in lab tests.

In a Facebook post, deputy government spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul said the vaccine, developed by Dr Kiat Ruxrungtham from Chulalongkorn University, will be tested on 100 volunteers this month.

The clinical trial also aims to work out the right dosage for immunization. Once the trial is successfully completed, the first lot of vaccines will be produced in the US, before Thailand’s BioNet-Asia begins mass production in September.

They still want to declare War against Turkey !

Probably quite proud that it is the Greek alphabet that is shown again to be the most preeminent language in the scientific and technical world to withstand the test of time. No ,the Thais will bitch about that because a few years ago the buffoon in charge here said that the Thai language would become the international language of choice - conceited , delusional idiot.

Thailand is BARELY testing, so all the stats are fundamentally suspect.

Thailand records tests (including retesting the same subjects), rather than the number of people being tested.

I was able to find some data from https://service.dmsc.moph.go.th/labscovid19/indexen.php

My guess is the Thai data in worldometer stops around the 24th April same as our world in data when things started going pair shaped.

No, probably not, but, as this is Thailand and money is number 1, they’ve probably just stopped, or cut short on, any further testing. No testing = nothing to report = (government) can open the country = (government) can make more money = (government) can carry on lining their pockets regardless!!

As of yesterday, Sinovac hasn't been approved by the WHO.

CP Group, part-owner of Sinovac, says will pursue other vaccines for its own workers

Thailand’s largest conglomerate, Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) says that will pursue ‘alternative vaccines’ for its healthcare workers. The CP Group is a partial owner of the company that manufactures the controversial Sinovac Vaccine.

So far, Thailand only imported the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines to much criticism. Sinovac has not yet been approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization for emergency use with the body asking for more information from manufacturers before granting authorization.

Despite millions of Sinovac vaccines being imported to Thailand and being administered to frontline workers, CP said it would pursue other vaccines for its workers.
