Mathematical equation used to ensure fairness in vaccine distribution: Anutin

Thailand's DPM and health minister has told Daily News that the distribution of vaccine in Thailand is fair and just and has told people not to worry.

 

Anutin Charvirakul said it was all about the maths in comments made at his Bhumjaithai HQ yesterday.

 

He was responding to claims from opposition MPs that their provinces are getting less vaccine than those of government MPs.

 

In what many would see as a highly patronizing statement he said that the number of vaccines would depend on the number of people in each province.

 

He qualified this with saying that it would be adjusted by considering how many cases of Covid-19 there were in each province. 

 

He promised justice saying that you can't get more vaccine just by asking for it. 

 

He said people should not be concerned. Everything was being done by the book under the auspices of his leader PM Prayuth Chan-ocha and the CCSA (Center for Covid Situation Administration).

I mean it makes sense to ration what appears to be a highly limited supply, and direct it towards vital areas with some logic behind the distribution.

 

But you need to explain that BEFORE launching "the plan", and set expectations.

 

Sending 300 or 600 doses to Nakhon Nowhere is counter-productive as local authorities don't want to be in the position to ration.

The only positive thing about this whole mess is that they provide a good laugh at their stupidity and incompetence. They have failed at every level, ordering vaccines early enough, producing their own in promised amounts, registering and allocating on a health risk basis. All sorts of people have jumped the queue already over the aged or at risk. Those responsible need to be held accountable.

As as i can make in prachuap town none, monday there were supposedly 900 went in  to try to register yesterday (not possible) not a person iin the jabbing area so they have either run  out of vaccine or people

My sympathies lie with the workers in the alledged 900+ vaccination centres. They face many months of working piecemeal, one day queued out, next day twiddling their thumbs waiting for stock. Not the most efficient mass vaccination programme. I wonder how many of the centres are actually delivering on any one day. At  a guess I'd say 50% of the time.
