Vaccinating citizens anywhere in the world has nothing to do with Embassies unless foreigners are being unjustly denied during a pandemic in the host country.

Foreigners are EXACTLY the same as any other nationality as it relates to possible covid infection and transmission. It is the Host country that has responsibility for ALL citizens in cases of security and the due diligence regarding something as critical as an ongoing pandemic.

All this wretched registration problem for foreigners is completely unnecessary as there is no need for a separate arrangement at all. Only needs the same process for ALL citizens currently in the country in two languages preferably Thai language competently interpreted into English.

The Department of State does not provide direct medical care, including vaccinations, to private U.S. citizens abroad. We are committed to providing all possible consular assistance to U.S. citizens in need overseas, including by providing information on local medical resources when appropriate. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/

our host nation is irresponsible incapable of vaccine distribution

I think our only hope is that the U.S. government donates cash or vaccines to the Thai government, with a proviso that some portion of the vacines are administered to U.S. citizens.

Expecting the Embassy to set up a vaccination center is, well, fairy-tale land. More likely to get a pony than a vaccination.

one idea is give the vaccine to thai red cross  they can sell/give it to usa

Of course there are many well informed Americans that know the score. I'm generalising.

Surprised you don't know the difference between communism and socialism.

Here's a hint. Norway, Denmark and Sweden are all socialist countries. North Korea is communist.

Russia, China, Vietnam and recently Cuba are no longer communist countries, even though they have authoritarian single party systems.

Communism believes that the means of production should belong to the state and has a command economy.

The only country that I can think of that still has a command economy is North Korea.

All the others have embraced the capitalist idea of free markets with the means of production in mostly private hands. When I say free markets, these countries have adopted it to a greater or, lesser extent.

There's another category called National Socialism. Maybe only China fits there, but it's trying to get others to join its way of thinking.

I'd be happy with at least a reduced ACS outreach schedule (instead of completely cancelled).

Didn't they announce reopening?

Ditto UK! OK to send Navy including vast aircraft carriers with room for millions of vaccines plus 1000 plus servicemen, OK to donate jabs but not OK to ensure UK taxpaying expats get priority!

It is "free for you too"  Try Travelocity or Skyscanner.  Flights are leaving every day.The issue is not the cost or availability it is the fact you believe somehow the government should bring it to your front door to cater to you.  Decisions have consequences.  Your decision to not live in the USA.  That comes with the consequences of not having things as provided to those residing in the USA and not being as convenient.

You seem to assume that other Americans are moneybags or jetsetters.

Don't count on the US embassy for anything. I'v learn that the hard way several times in the past 10 years.

Unfair. Anytime you need a signature notarized for $US 50 bucks they are there for you...oh except now...

America loves to posture as the global hero - hence the 500 million dose giveaway to coincide with Biden's first global engagement. The covid scene is unprecedented in our lifetimes. Just sayin it would be a great time for America to step up and be a hero to it's citizens abroad.

Don't worry most of you Americans are overweight, obese or diabetic by the time you get 60 and that's more dangerous than covid.

Actually, if you get Covid those conditions make it more likely to be fatal.

Agree with Thomas J.... it's a choice along a path of choices.   One can no more blame your doctor for liver cancer, VD, and a raspy voice if you chose a long life of enjoying wine, women, and song.

Sometimes you guys amaze me with your doublespeak

Don't lump us all in the same pile.  I knew completely when I came to Thailand that I would need to rely on the Thai medical system.  I knew the Embassy's PRIMARY function was to promote the relations with the Thai government and facilitate business here. The American citizen services are just that, 'services'.

I'm getting the sinking feeling that we are entering in to the fourth failed presidency.

you have every right to exercise free will, get on a plane and when you arrive in the US go to the nearest Safeway and get a shot.

And a domestic flight in the US these days certainly sounds like fun:

3,000 unruly passengers so far this year -- 2,300 cases over mask wearing: FAA
Wednesday, June 16, 2021 4:51AM

Acts of aggression are skyrocketing to troubling highs on airplanes.

Airlines have now reported 3,000 cases of disruptive passengers to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this year, and the vast majority -- 2,300 -- involve people who refused to wear a mask. Those on the front lines have not only witnessed the increase in flight disruptions, but they've seen them become more violent.

The FAA is investigating the highest number of potential violations of federal law in unruly passenger cases since they began keeping records in 1995. The agency has identified 394 cases this year where passengers have potentially broken the law by "interfering with the duties of a crew member."

Three thousand out of what, half a billion?

It is amusing that as long as you're nursing a drink you don't need a mask.

Too funny...

Tempting just to see some place new; and no doubt it's much slower paced and quieter if that's something one likes.   If cost is a primary factor it looks much more economical to fly to the mainland.     If taking kids along (and thus having to get the Pfizer jab), three weeks in Guam might be a bit long.

Is there something new in that?

We seem to be at the tail end of covid.

The administration tells us inflation is good.

Mass shootings are not the fault of the shooters, but of the guns. The administration will eliminate these and all will be good.

Political anger and distrust only hurts those that are angry and distrustful, I am not.

Who is not accountable?

The "insurrection" ended the same day.

The only pension funds left are public sector, and they can't go broke.

No one cares about major league sports anymore.

Read the news sometime.

The State department saying from months ago it is policy. They could do it even if the embassy and consulates are not set up to provide medical services, the main problem is optics. Just like Japan where all they would have to do is leverage existing military capabilities it makes the host govt look bad and opens legal questions. Surely the embassy in BKK offered  extra jabs months ago to elites, family of local staff and diplomatic contacts.
