How can they say the 'vast majority' after polling just over 1,000 people?

Ridiculous!

Come on, they where a carefully chosen group of 1000 people, all well above the rank of sergeant...

It's only because of covid that we've become aware just how little money the country actually has.. I used to think Thailand was relatively wealthy amongst the Asean Group of countries but looking around the country now it is glaringly obvious how broke the majority of people are... The so called middle class have been wiped out by this epidemic. Aside from the big Chinese Thai families that own corporate Thailand, there is nothing but poverty below that line now. So without tourism that middle class of millions are now back to working on the farms again. Sad times for Thailand

I read report that scientist believe that if you only get one injection of the Chinese vaccine you really are not protected from the virus TIT

That's very widely reported.  Also, with the Indian variant, AZ is not particularly effective after one dose.

So they'd better hope they can keep the Indian variant out for as long as possible.  Minimum until people get their second dose.

Seems like only a short time ago there was a post saying most Thai's wanted to continue to ban tourists.  Based on the policies the government has put in place to enter Thailand it appears they are still not welcoming with open arms.  I know I would like to vacation outside of Thailand but won't do it because of the requirement to be in confinement for 15 days upon return and I live here.  So what would give anyone the thought that tourists who are traveling to Thailand for short periods of time would want to put up with that cost and aggravation.  There are other tropical places to visit and so long as the impediments are in place and so many of the tourist attractions and bars shuttered I would not expect the flood gates of tourists to be arriving anytime soon.

Just proves to me that atleats 91% of Thais have absolutely no clue as to the efficacy of the Chinese first jab !

or jusy maybe that Thais are finding out that this is much hype than fact, and that the few deaths are worth the risk.

"...But when asked about their fears 96.3% cited illegal entry of foreigners noting that the government had been negligent in allowing migrants to cross Thailand's porous borders reported Daily News...."

Time for the Govt to remind the masses that it is Western foreigners that pose the real threat

Just 9 days to go before the grand re-opening and yet the only thing that is open in Phuket are the beaches. There's a complete lack of urgency that Karon, Kata and Kata Noi beaches are full of rubbish and for the last week, have been littered with thousands of 'oil blobs' that stick to your feet and have to be scrubbed off with detergent. If anyone does arrive here after July 1st expect some adverse publicity.

The variant is already in Thailand. Vaccinated and 4x tested foreign tourists are a tiny risk and they spend money too. So what are we waiting for in October? Cut the baloney and open the country.

If it's inevitable that the Indian variant is already in the country, then we're waiting for people to get two doses of a vaccine that is effective against that variant.

When the country is opened, the tourists may not pose a risk bringing the variant in, but they can possibly transfer it and at the very least, they will be inconvenienced if everything locks down to stop the Indian variant, should it be required.

Sure, let them in, but don't ignore the fact that vaccine choice, or number of doses required to open the country, may cause another lock down sometime soon.

Well, they could spend 4x as much, interview 4,160 people and take their margin of error from 4% down to to 2%.

But wouldn't that be a waste of time and money?

That’s assuming the expected proportion in the population is 50%. In practice, the survey’s results indicate that the actual proportion is around 90%. When taking that into account a sample size of 1500 is already enough to get a 2% margin of error with a 99% confidence interval.
