The fact that experimental treatments, such as the vaccines, cannot be granted EUA if there is an effective treatment available is not reported in the media.

So how do you know? Direct line to EUA?

More than 350 doctors and medical professionals have contracted Covid-19 in Indonesia despite the majority of healthcare workers having been immunized with Sinovac, officials said Thursday, just over a month after officials praised the shot for wiping out the disease among health workers.

Dozens of these were hospitalized, officials added, leading experts to question the effectiveness of the Chinese shot, particularly against the infectious Delta variant fueling the country’s outbreak.

I hope you are right but it does not look good.  Several reports that it is not doing well against the variants.  The majority of the cases here now are the UK and Indian variants.  Almost 90% the UK variant.

I am not disputing but where is your source that 90 here (meaning Thailand yes) is so called UK variant?

Meanwhile, blood tests also showed that 70% of 171 people, who had received two Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses over two weeks, had over 50% immunity against the virus.

which strain of the virus - again lack of detail makes this publication useless

and is 50% really something impressive - I don't think so

50% is the minumum required effectiveness required to be granted emergency use authorization (EUA). Sinovac was granted this by the WHO a couple of weeks ago. Meanwhile, Sputnik V, with over 90% effectiveness

I thought the latest reports from Moscow were that a variant of Covid was raging in the city

Reports state that Sinovac is 78% effective against symptoms of Covid-19

The remaining 22% suffering mild to moderated symptoms.

Reports suggest Sinovac is 100% effective again severe symptoms & death.

The 50% reported indicates 50% of people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus will not contract Covid-19

Sinovac is still a lot better than nothing.

Not if you are in the opposite 50%.

Except now as it would  appear in Indonesia where health workers are dying even after two  jabs of sino.

Ah! "Reports" That's it then. Accurate because of "reports" Reports without source, the media is full of them.

This is observed with other vaccines in other countries as well:

In UK 31% of the new Delta variant cases which needed emergency care had at least 1 vaccine shot according to the link above.

If I flip a coin I have a 50% chance of it coming up heads (or tails).  Looks like Sinovac effectiveness equals that of a coin flip.

And it doesn't look much better in Chile where Sinovac is also the most used vakzin.

So effective! And how many need to go ICU or 6 feet under to see 100% effective against severe covid.

Two things.....firstly, the vaccine was developed to fight the original virus; not too sure what virus is dominant in these countries.......secondly, if it is only 50% effective you might expect 50% of those vaccinated to be ill (to varying degrees)....

this ain't over (no matter how bad you want it to be) by a long shot. The world played the 'haves and have nots' vaccination wise for far too long and it's going to come back and bite em' real hard. This 50% protection is hell of a lot better than 0% protection that most of the poor countries have now, the Chinese with their distribution probably have saved many more lives than the late G7 effort will (after they were shamed into it) I believe the Chinese realize the 'world' needs the shots collectively for them to be truly effective, but unfortunately greed will prevent this..

Just confirming it's the least effective protection of available vaccines then, great

By a long shot

The proof of all vaccines will be how many people get, die and get hospitalised after taking the companies vaccines.

I've yet to see any country publishing figures on hospitalisations and deaths based on each company vaccines after 2 doses. Whish in my mind is crucial !

Just as possible Thailand could inject 100% and it turn out Sinovac puts more people in hospital than all the other vaccines combined - but since Thailand has injected virtually nobody yet once - let alone twice - we cannot see it yet. But it could be coming in a few months - wonder if Thailand could get its money back

so 50% effective means its a coin toss

if only there was a way to know which 50% group you are in..

..before its too late ????

then you could go & get jabbed with a better vaccine ????
