Popular Post webfact
Thailand’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Thammanat Prompao, a controversial politician who was recently elected as the ruling Palang Pracharat Party (PPRP)’s new secretary-general, said today (Monday) that the party will nominate the country’s current prime minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, as the country’s leader again, if the party wins the next general election. “In the future, if the party gets to set up a government, we will nominate Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha again. The country’s situation is not normal. It is rather like wartime. No one else is more appropriate than him,” said Capt. Thammanat at a PPRP meeting today, the first he has attended in his new capacity. He said a lot is to be done and this government only has two more years before the next general election, adding that efforts have already been made in terms of the economy, society, politics and the unity of the people. Well, the economy is in the toilet, society is simmering with anger, society has never been more divided between hi-so's, generals and the public, politics is strife with bribery and banning the opposition and the only unity in Thailand appears to be disapproval of their leaders. Think the public would give them a 'U' grade !
Popular Post ezzra
It begs the question why would you nominate someone who obviously didn't do a good job at keeping the country safe, it only shows that by nominating him again it tells the voters that Prayut is the best they have and that is poor reflection on the party...

It also reinforces to the public that they are under severe authoritarian rule by folks who have no qualifications whatever to be involved in running a country and reinforces the severe lack of ethics and morals at play.

Absolute power in the hands of the absolutely corrupt. In the event of another election they will use the same methods as previously to disqualify any serious opposition. Career politicians will happily cross the floor to join the PPRP as they realize it will be the only way to get their snouts near the trough. Expect many defections from Phua Thai especially. 5

internationalism
this party will not win the most votes. they can try to buy a coalition from up to 17 minor parties, as it is right now. Gangster Thammanat calls it "feeding monkeys with bananas", so they can have banana monarchy or Kalaland. But that is limited time, as younger generations are not into that play. ps the radsadon calls for a protest at democracy monument on 24th, so they are replying to those moves in the government. One of the topics is corruption Edited June 22, 2021 by internationalism

smedly
I have not come across one Thai person in the last 12 months that has anything good to say about this current government - in fact the anger is extreme and is building and building I have a feeling that lasting another 2 years is highly unlikely - I hope they all have a good exit strategy

Eric Loh
No primary election; how democratic. Anyway there really is a dearth of talents in Palang Pracharat. The party is a one man dog and pony show that can only win election by corrupt ways. Rushing to nominate Prayut as PM so early may just be the proverbial own goal as latest poll indicate that he is not suitable to be the next PM and his performance in the vaccination layout anger many people. Now the opposition parties will have a target to campaign.
