He / she is the first to test positive out of 1900 approx to date and would not (should not!)  have left their room. I would be more concerned, further down the line, if a sandboxer tested positive after joining the supposedly virtually Covid free community. I think that would be more of a ball buster 

 

Thank goodness numbers are small. It would be impossible to control otherwise. The big numbers blasted out by TAT were purely chest pumping ego boosting feel good factors. In reality, I can see that the start up system is only designed and set up for the 400 (or so) daily arrivals.

Here’s a clue: the number of people so sick that they don’t care about endless queues and incarceration is useful information.

 

Sure, it's useful information. But the absolute number is understated.

 

There's an unknown but presumably significant number of people who require treatment but don't get it. Worst case scenario, they die at home, either waiting for a hospital bed or not even realizing that their condition has worsened to the point that they need one.

There's some question about the accuracy of that 64% figure which comes out of Israel. But everyone knowledgeable does think that the Pfizer vaccine's efficacy is lower than it is against the alpha variant.

"However, experts have expressed doubt regarding the analysis of infection rates in Israel in recent weeks and the ministry's epidemiology team has also questioned it...

 

The models used by the Health Ministry have been called into question by health professionals. 

"There are enormous methodological challenges in properly assessing the efficacy of the vaccine from local outbreaks," one health expert told Haaretz.

For the second day in a row, Thailand on Wednesday set new daily records for COVID patients in critical condition, the share of those requiring ventilators to breathe, and total COVID hospitalizations.

 

--67,614 COVID patients hospitalized vs 65,297 yesterday.

 

--2,496 COVID patients hospitalized in critical condition vs 2,350 yesterday.

 

--Of those, 676 requiring ventilators to breathe vs 643 yesterday.

 

A government spokeswoman said that the nation's numbers of critical COVID hospitalizations are expected to continue climbing.

 

The spokeswoman also repeated prior reports that Thailand could be facing up to 10,000 new cases per day in the near future because of the growth of the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus.

A group of doctors, who call themselves “Mor Mai Thon” (Doctors won’t take it anymore) submitted its petition, bearing 215,409 signatures collected on change.org, to Thailand’s House of Representatives today (Wednesday), calling for mRNA vaccines to be the main type administered in Thailand for free, as well as for transparency in the government procurement processes.

Sad and what a mess this has become.  The tentacles of this pandemic are now truly rippling through Thailand and it does not seem to matter who you are and since that is the case the vaccines need to go to everyone, and I mean everyone regardless of nationality.  Provide the vaccine to the most vulnerable and aged, then those with medical conditions as well as ensuring those on the frontline are vaccinated as well.  Any type of service provider also needs to be vaccinated and this includes teachers.  I know I sound like a broken record, and I apologize for that, however the facts are the facts and this Government failed in rolling out vaccines and then brought this devil to the door and invited him inside by the way they failed to respond to it.......

They filled the new beds created is what that is, did not squeeze them in.  More locations are being prepared here in the Capital as well to house the many.  Another worry, is for those that were evacuated from the fire zones and are being housed in other facilities.  I hate to say it but what is the chance that those in Samut Prakan may also turn into one of the newest clusters.  Are they testing those folks or not?

You can't get over that the time periods in the chart below are not lined up exactly with the appropriate dates.  Let me help you out: there is clearly a Time period shown in the chart when cases were flat or declining. That is when I stated the obvious: that case numbers were flat or declining.

"A 5,000 bed field hospital is to be set up in the compound of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport and is expected to become operational in August. The new facility is being established to address the current hospital bed shortage, being caused by a continued surge in COVID-19 cases, according to Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob.

 

The Transport Ministry has been asked by the Public Health Ministry to set up a field hospital in the airport’s 100,000m2 area of the Satellite 1 building. The second floor will be used for intensive care units and doctors’ facilities, while the third and fourth floors will be used to accommodate mild and asymptomatic patients.

 

The new facility will open just in time, as the lease for the Bussarakum field hospital, at Impact Muang Thong Thani, will expire next month and the new field hospital, at the airport, will be able to accommodate three times as many patients, said the minister.

Top official – fully vaccinated people must wear double face masks against the Delta virus strain

 

With a surge in infections being reported on Wednesday, driven by the more infectious Delta variant of Covid-19, Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the government spokesman has warned the public that it will have to learn to live with a new level of threat from the disease. It comes as a top doctor at a Bangkok hospital has come forward to say he is aware of people dying at home who are not included in the official tallies. There is also an emerging demand for mRNA vaccines among the public and health personnel on the front line. However, the boss of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has warned that the much sought after Moderna vaccine will not be available until early next year.
