And then some farangs are surprised why some Thais think farangs are crazy.

They don't get me. Always have some copper in my little "coin bag" :>)

If there is a queue I will abstain from picking for the coins.

At 7/11 they are quite happy when I just empty the coins to the desk for self service.

At Makro only 1000/500/100.

I think Thais are hoarding thousands of tons of coins :>)

Satang coins should have been abolished years ago.

They did away with 25 satangs a while back and brought them back again because people complained.

I was just off out getting my ingredients to make a coffee first thing in the morning .

I am not in the best of moods before having my first coffee , especially when I need to go out to buy the ingredients

So it is like bitcoin mining, only for who? Is it for the caissière or the company?

Would  Charoen Pokphand Group be happy with it? Did they put up this scam then?

Could be. My tax collector (government) also wants every cent if you have to pay, on the other hand they dont pay if you have a refund from them up  to a certain limit.

In the beginning (2000) we had 1 cent , 2 cent coins, they disappeared very quickly after introduced.

It costed more, making them and copper could be used otherwise. So it would be crazy for Thailand to have these coins.

You can collect them in jars to do something with it, however sellers want them? Mostly you cant use them.

Showed once when i was on a parking place in CM, someone emptied his coin tray and there were about 20 coins, satangs, lying around.

75 satang one hundred times = 75 baht tip. A decent meal.

Coin collecting pays for my trips to Thailand. Here in the Land of the Rising Fun, coins go up to 500 yen, which is close to US$5 or about 160 baht.  They add up quickly.  Bills start at 1000 yen (320 baht).

It's no longer Tesco Lotus, it's now Lotus's's's's (or something like that) ????

Might take long to extinguish the name.

Many of the medium/provincial malls have not been renamed at the front gates etc.

At our medium  size Lotus's they replaced(!) all shopping carts with brand new carts.

Not even wasting a thought about just exchanging the prints on the handles.

multiply that per customer, per day, per branch and you got yourself a nice little earner!!!

60.25/60.00 = 1.004167

0.004167 * 14.3 billion USD = 59 million USD.

I am happy to get the saved change.

(14.3 billion USD = worth of Dhanin Chearavanont)

(I know it's a "bit simplified" :>)
