Best place in Phuket for staying while sandbox.

Espanol

Recommended Posts

I already applied for Phuket sandbox program, and I booked hotel in Patong.

But I wonder which place would recommend people staying in Phuket right now, since they know better which zones are better at the moment.

Any suggestions for people planning to book hotel in Phuket?

I booked the Westin Siray Bay Resort in Phuket specially as Patong is not really interesting at this time.

Better to go with a nice resort and travel over Phuket during the day.

1st choice would be Chern Talay, Laguna area, more than 90% open

than Kamala as lots open and easy to walk everywhere

than Rawai as you need transport to get around

Siray bay, ur at the mercy of the taxi's every time you exit the resort, as nowhere you can walk

Indeed, Koh Siray seems a bit of an odd choice, with little to recommend it other than close proximity to Phuket Town, for which if important, I would have opted for Cape Panwa.

Why would anyone want to go too the Phuket with Covid out of control the Government too inept to do anything still no lockdown only curfews and restrictions how many cases a day does the PM need, it was only a month ago they were saying they would have 10,000 cases a day by years end unless lm mistaken its July and that target has been hit. I wonder if the PM is on schedule for his 120day plan to reopen the country, America has Biden and Thailand has Chan-o-cha

So where should the OP stay on Phuket?

I booked sleep with me, 700 baht per night for a nice hotel including breakfast.

A price so nice I even booked the family in for a few nights.

He didn't ask what you would do. If you don't have a suggestion for the o.p. as to a place to stay, why not keep your half-wits to yourself and save others' time?

Speaking of half-wits maybe practice what you preach

Stevenl if possible i would change. Stayed once there and was in all aspects disappointed. Room, breaki, pool and service were not good to say it in a nice way.

Thanks, but I always had good reviews from my customers.

My experiences so far are that they're all open, cheap and responsive. Finally returning 1 August.

I would have preferred to stay in Kata Villa, to me easier access to my home in Rawai and shop in Kata, cheaper and I feel they deserve support due to trying what they could to stay open all the time and help everyone with special offers on food and stays, but unfortunately they're not SHA+ yet and I couldn't wait.

Sorry Espanol cos I have just made a similar post asking , before I saw this post ,  for recommended 4 star hotels in Phuket because I have never been there and like you have just got my pre COE approval and hope to travel next Saturday . Am a bit concerned about the curfew in Bangkok because my plan is to fly to Bangkok Don Muang airport , after the 14 day quarantine , from Phuket and then fly to  Buriram and then by road to my place . Fingers crossed

Actually, I agree that Phuket is not a place where going on holiday this year. Too many requirements even been fully vaccinated and having negative PCR prior to flight.

There are many other better better places worldwide where to vacation this year. Cheaper and safer.

However, for people who MUST go to Thailand this year, Phuket sandbox program is a better option than Bangkok ASQ hotels.

Actually we drive right in Europe, and Thai drivers are really crazy, so I will never drive in Thailand, but may be a motorbike in a small island with no traffic, like Koh Samet, for instance.

Given what happened to 12 out of 14 passengers on Thursday's Emirates flight (banged up in quarantine for 2 weeks because someone on the flight tested positive) perhaps I could suggest the departure lounge of Phuket Airport?

Thanks for suggestion.

Finally I booked Palmyra Resort: also in Patong but even cheaper, gym, swimming pool, not far from the beach, near many restaurants, shops and venues.

Swimming pool rooms at good price. Breakfast also included.

Yes. Unfortunately, most of my first options, small boutique hotels, didn't get SHA+ certificate. I'm not sure about the reason.

No problem.

I have exactly same plans that you.

I assume that most people travelling to Phuket are not tourists but just use sandbox program as best way to enter Thailand before continuing travel to final destination in Thailand.

About myself, I will also fly to Bangkok and then to other destinations.

Muchas gracias. ????

But, as I wrote in my first post, I already booked in Patong last month.

You must understand that I am not a tourist: I just fly to Phuket as a better alternative to ASQ hotel in Bangkok. But I will be working online at hotel.

My idea is going to empty beach in the morning, have lunch at the seaside, go back to hotel to begin my journey (5-6 hours more in Spain than in Thailand) and after work going to swimming pool, having dinner and go to bed.

It will be interesting enjoying empty Patong Beach, free of Russians and Chinese, same as 30 years ago.

As others have said, the only current feasible options with  restaurants open and a bit of life are Rawai.,Laguna area, and Kamala. If indeed ,you feel the need to come ? Currently I would not recommend coming to anyone!

Thanks a lot. I appreciate your comments but I must go to Thailand anyway, so Phuket is my best option to get into Thailand before continuing travel to final destination.

I will accept your suggestion about Rawai, Laguna area, and Kamala, as places to visit on weekends to relax, as well as Phuket Town and some other places that people recommend in other posts.

By the way: Patong is holding strong as the preferred location on the island for tourists booking hotels to stay under the Phuket Sandbox scheme, Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew has confirmed.

For some reason most tourists also prefer Patong. I wonder why.

I am in the PAR Phuket, about 15 minutes outside Patong. From the name you might have guessed it is on a golf course! I play a little golf in between the rain, and walk or cycle around the dam nearby. Visit Patong and the beach occasionally too. Nanai area of Patong nearly all open but of course, Bangla street still generally closed.

Great hotel for me and Kathu area around is quite busy too and my home not far!

Good luck with Palmyra.

Just looked on Agoda and Palmyra 4 star was  £95 a night , not cheap in my book
