I think this is the 3rd or 4th time our condos pool has closed in Pattaya....Honestly I am losing track now........Heck the pool was only open for a few weeks after the last time it closed and now its closed again.....

 

I have not even heard of any requirements for pools to close........They love love to close the pool for any reason even no reason at all  is a good reason to close the pool here....

First world problem in the middle of a pandemic. Just be thankful no one is loosing there livelihood from the pool being closed.

Yea well..... If you liked to swim often and your condos pool kept closing over and over I am very sure you would not be a happy camper......Swimming has ZERO to do with a pandemic.....

I wonder if they discount your association fees since they don’t have to take care of as many things.oh wait, did I really just ask that

Our Pattaya condo pool and gym have also closed. 

Our Bangkok Condo pool and gym have been closed since April. 

Our condo pool has been closed since April too.  Very annoying.

But people coming and going using the same facilities, toilets changing rooms etc does have something to do with the pandemic. 

 

You swimming alone of course has ZERO do with the Pandemic. You swimming in a busy pool does have something do with the pandemic. 

 

The clear issue here is that intelligent discretion has been removed - there is no reason that a simple regulation can’t be put in place: 

 i.e. Condo Pools and Moobaan pools

- Toilets and changing rooms closed

- depending on size of pool - 1 person per 20sqm of pool size (i.e. usually somewhere around 4-5 people per pool per time).

 

This would allow some to exercise etc and doesn’t take a great deal of policing etc

 

Unfortunately we are all living in a time when intelligent discretion is minimised because the lowest common denominator is a fool.

I was unsure about having a swimming pool built at my place, but Covid has proved that it was an excellent decision to install one.  Mine never closes and it has been a real boon during lock downs, gym and beach  closures  and movement restrictions. .

Same here since last Saturday along with all indoor common areas. Three big condo blocks and apparently 5 recent Covid cases among residents is the (unofficial) reason. On site branch of 7/11 still open, of course.

My Pattaya pool is still open, I've not seen an order to close online or in our condo, talk to a falang committee member

Our condo pool & gym in Bangkok is closed too. Although the indoor laundry room in both buildings are open. Not sure what the difference is touching gym equipment and the washers and dryers. The pool is chlorinated so what's up with all this nonsense?

Exactly.......There has been no pool closer order.....So why are pools being closed?

I think it's obviously about how people tend to congregate socially at pools. It is outdoors though so doesn't seem to be the highest risk. But Delta is very very easy to spread. Also people swimming won't be wearing masks. Sometimes the rules don't make that much sense, but I wouldn't say closing pools is completely irrational.

It's about fun ....... no fun allowed.

If they thought doing the laundry was fun, that would be closed as well.

They could limit the number of people using the pools and forbid mixing with people you don't live with but that would be a pain to enforce.

Typical..........I bet 100 times more people go into a 7-11 every day than a swimming pool.......And I bet 1000 times more people go into a supermarket every day than a swimming pool......

 

But the 7-11s and supermarkets  have NEVER CLOSED from day #1.......

Sure but getting groceries is a necessity (though delivery options are available). 

Happy that mine is still open. Though there is a system of registering before you go to the pool and a maximum amount of people allowed at any one time. Let's hope there are no further issues and it remains open....at least for me. ????

Actually, I've just seen something on Facebook, maybe it's part of the Chonburi order effective today

Actually, it looks like a misunderstanding, according to this, should close 9pm to 4am

pools are no requested to close.

I will petition all the coowners if it happens again. No way that I accept this anymore.

While it is true people tend to congregate around pools, I would say people swimming and not wearing masks (?????) would present risk approaching zero.

That's because a pool with any Free Available Chlorine level will kill bacteria 1000 - 2000 nm in diameter. A 125 nm virus is going to be a mere snack in comparison.

it is not impossible to swim with a mask .... just to topple that remark  as reason to close pool use

It's difficult enough to breathe through a mask as it is, I don't want to think about trying to breathe through one that is wet.

waw !  than you must have one that is fitting very narrow  ...., as with mine my glasses always have vapor on it (not in the pool of course..) because the exhaust air  beside my nose ...... not a airtight one ...., or maybe my nose bigger than yours

A flawed mindset under the burden of inability to think logically may suspect ‘its all about preventing fun’ - but the reality is its about limiting non essential activities where people may congregate.....

Love to know what Thailands success goal looks like.

Seems to me that they'll use this excuse to enact any law they want til citizens take action and take back their freedoms.

Zero covid will never be a reality.
