Government plans to inoculate 10 million per month despite AstraZeneca shortfall

When infections in major cities are low and vaccination numbers high, does the policy then switch to countryside and small town residents can’t disperse out of their red zones? Asking for a friend.

The Thai malarkey continues... Episode 369...We will be going back to farming for the next 6-9 months. Bye bye tourists. See ya next year in April.

In six to nine months Thailand will be where Europe and North America are now...cautiously re-opening the country.

That 'cautious opening' won't be starting before Summer 2022 at best. Best case scenario is full vaccination by April 2023. Whether there will be widespread longterm health effects from vax & from Covid and whether said vaccines actually keep more infectious &/or deadly variants from developing by then is anybody's guess. Lotta times, you only get one crack at defending yourself--the generals blew it.

April 2023, maybe...

Any follow up jabs will be short listed for groups needed for essential work, vital to the nation; generals, politicians, police, Thonglor bar & nightclub workers, etc.

Don't forget the Moon Mission.

You don't think there's Covid on the moon?

Spacesuits offer marginal protection at best, as all the anti-mask advocates can attest.

Utter fantasy !
My Thai wife went to government hospital in samui yesterday to ask about vaccine and was told they don’t have any , no idea when they will have more and that she can’t register to get it when available !
Utter shambles all over the country !

It is a bit rich for your wife to complain about the lack of vaccines in Samui. Samui is probably around 50% or more fully vaccinated, there are no cases, flights from Bangkok are cancelled, and now they only allow people from the red zones via the ferries vaccinated + negative test. The hospitals are working normally and there are no queues in front of them whatsoever.

Probably they diverted the vaccines to where they are most needed now, like the deep red zones.

THailand....... where the magic happens.

Unknown when and which vaccines will come, they still keep the people in Thailand quiet by making statements like this..

Quiet? you didn't see the protests in BKK yesterday, they might be fooling the lower thinkers but that's a minority, the youth will eventually run this mob out of town...... stay tuned ????

The virus is highly contagious and is everywhere don't kid yourself.  How much testing are they doing in Samui?  No testing equals no virus.  And the flights are cancelled because no one is coming little to do with screening.  The hospitals are not full because those infected are largely asymptomatic or mild symptoms.

Well, I must say - just been for first jab...absolutely flawless experience.

Through the Chulabhorn Hospital.  Completed all requirements online in May.  Received SMS last week for 10:00 jab today - went early just in case. The staff were so polite and so professional - from those who greeted us on arrival at the CAT Convention Hall, to those who escorted us through all the procedures.  No waiting, everything explained very clearly - all documents checked one last time - vaccination administered.  During the post vaccination 'rest' period, very clear instructions given about what to do and what not to do before the second jab.  Was back home 28Km away by 09:20.

After all the negativity about thses procedures recently - this was outstanding.

What vaccine did you get?

Pity there isn't a thread for vaccination positives...

Actually there is...

I too had a god experience when I was finally vaxxed at BNH Bangkok on Monday, as I have written in this thread, "Vaccination Experiences", above.

I think people are more than satisfied with the actual inoculation procedure; it's the getting there that is causing so much angst.

I just said to my partner, who was also vaxxed on Monday, how it is so unbelievable to think that the first vax has now taken place, after noting interest in February and registering in March (?) on a number of platforms. Huge relief all round.

You are providing a valuable "thumbnail precis" of the running score of this terrible business, which serves to concentrate minds! I would like to acknowledge your work, but a "like" seems inappropriate, and "sad" is so often misused to suggest "I don't agree with you".

Thank You.

I received an SMS for this last week, after I registered in May. Had my appointment for 7 August, but after receiving the vax from BNH Bangkok on Monday, (2 of us), I immediately cancelled my booking, so it will go into the pool for others. Ditto at MedPark, 2 more back in the pool. And ditto for MorProm today, back in the pool for others.

Sinopharm? Second dose scheduled for ?

See very few complaints about the actual day-of vaccination process, most share your experience, which seems to comes as a surprise to many. Maybe they were expecting something worse or different? Or they just want to share that they got a vaccine?

I imagine anyone getting the vaccine, and there are very, very, very few (foreigners) in this category, are just happy with any experience short of a sharp stick in the eye.

Most complaints are about registration, availability and choice.

It is literally physically impossible to vaccinate 10 million people per month.  The dual jab vaccines require a two week wait between jabs.  How to logistically decide   who gets first jab, then second jab etc.  You can't run around and give every body the first jab without having a second jab standing by.  If you do, then you get no proper full vaccinations.   I don't see the Thai system being organized to handle this.  Hope for the best when the vaccines become available

Oops.  They already started this on 7 June 2021, to great fanfare.

Better tell the regime.

They (deliberately) overlooked this basic premise.

And are now scrambling for two dose cocktails, and lining experts to endorse whatever they have on offer today.

That's why I would prefer the J&J vaccine. One jab and your done! Also if they are getting 20 million Pfizer vaccines will the Thais have to pay for them or just us?

Interesting question. I'm Canadian, have registered and paid for Moderna jabs. Still no information given as to when I'm likely to get vaccinated, so I called the Consulate to see if they had any information. The consul in chiang Mai told me that the Canadian government had donated vaccines to Thailand but wasn't going to discriminate. I wasn't looking to jump the queue I told her, but as long as we're talking about discrimination. Thailand has it's hand out requesting donations from governments around the world, while the PM poudly announces "Thais first".
