I still remember people talking about the opening scene in "Jaws" when it hit the theaters in 1975. Living in the NYC area at the time I recall the effect it had on beachgoer's and coastal resort communities that summer.  Scared a lot of people.

Tough choice.

Our life decisions can be a tough choice. This may be your lesser choice.

Do you have a video record of that?

I have a Apocalypse Now Blue ray 3 disc. The other was a trailer shown at an art house  late show. Either US debut of Mad Max or a midnight Rocky Horror Picture show.

They showed the trailers for Desparate Living and Pink Flamingos. Swear to Buddha I ran to the lobby most disgusting thing I had every seen in my life at that point. No links sorry I don't think youTube tolerates coprophagia or hideous looking people copulating.

My absolute favorite is the opening to The Sound of Music.  Love the slow panning shots, the slow music buildup, and then the zooming in to Julie on the mountaintop.  Superb.

The intro to Delicatessen was pretty good.  As it progresses it makes you wonder W.T.F. is going on??!?  You soon find out nothing good....  Great movie btw if you haven't seen it.

Thanks for your input. Glancing at your posting history I am impressed you have time to watch movies. Insomnia?

Currently I spend at least 4 hours of an evening watching DVD movies every day ( buy them for between 50 cents and $2 from op shops ). I used to spend 4 hours of an evening watching tv, but it's become so woke and waaaaay too many ads, so I don't anymore.

In the past I'd go to the movies at least a couple times a week, but too expensive to do that now.

The introduction to Woody Allen's Manhattan is sublime.

Agreed.  A magnificent opening.  My favourite film by an American director.

The opening seconds of "Where Eagles Dare" as the aircraft comes over the ridge in the Alps - really only works on the big screen...
