The confusion is total:

The European Medicines Agency’s approval for AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine does not cover AstraZeneca doses made by South Korea, Thailand, or Japan that supply Malaysia.

AztraZeneca approval apparently depends on where it's fabricated.

Thailand will not be the only country with that issue.  I suspect MANY countries will have that issue when it comes to proof of paperwork.

Then you should be more explicit. There are those from the East here who do not consider the west a home. Further there are those of us from western countries who would like to travel outside of the west.

I was told verbally (with no reference) from someone, who claimed they read it (and I am looking for the reference) that Oxford are supposed to apply to the EMA and other organizations, for AstraZeneca from South Korea, Thailand, Japan ... to be accepted. .... I am not convinced that is correct, as I have read that India's AstraZeneca was approved by EU countries and that the application didn't come from Oxford , but rather from India.

Also, best I can determine, Canada (a country in the west) does accept AstraZeneca from India, South Korea, Thailand, and Japan, although if I am wrong on that I would be most interested to read the reference.

My whole medical history in Thailand is with BPH.

Of the 7 underlying reasons, I tick the box for 3.

My application was denied due to lack of proof of those underlying conditions and was requested to undergo a full medical check up @ Bt.14,900.

I have been contacted by both bangkok pattaya and Samitavit for AZ jabs ,but as i had already had my first jab of AZ 8 weeks ago from Mor Prom ,i was told to wait for my next jab through them.

Not to worry! We are just going to call everything an accident. Just wait until we have all papers straight.

I opted against ticking the health condition section too because of needing a medical certificate to confirm condition.

Many of us do not have a certificate, rather only prescription documents at best.

And of those medicines listed prescriptions, they are often for treatment of several health conditions, I.e. not disease specific.

And there are medicines that are used for 'off label' conditions but still used to treat serious medical conditions.

I saw the impending costly and time consuming need to have to attend a hospital, pay for consultations, most probably be requested to seek letters from specialists back in my home country and finally after several thousands of Baht, have a Thai doctor complete a medical certificate to upload onto the website.

And by that time the placements would have filled.

So better to just register as a non-urgent applicant instead.

Sad reality is that therefore there are expats who are high risk of dying from COVID and one of the 7 categories, who are registered in the non-urgent category.

New website, same BS.

We give you choice: your option Sinovac.

No, thx.

Most part of the world won't accept that vaccine when plan to travel. And I plan.

But staying upbeat! Every second week there is a new website! And in around 6 months even the Pfeizer should arrive here.

There is plenty hiso and you know who I know type in Thailand, but not 15 millions ...

Once they ran out those, I am sure world will return to normal, and start to fleece ...I mean sell...to us farang as well, for the usual hefty surcharge.

Well my original post was talking about the west, I’m not going to change it to keep you happy.

You wrote a post about people travelling from Singapore to China, would you like me to tell you to make it include other countries?

Sinovac and AZ. One day they do one...etc. You can select preference. I don't see the Sinovac take up being strong amongst these non-Thais. What happened to the other places I registered, a hospital in Sri Racha and the expatvac@consular websites... why are we simply being barraged with options but many never seem to bear fruit.

I had my 1st dose at Chaiyapruk indoor stadium on Thursday, walk in with your passport after 1pm when they've finished the Thais, Astra Zenaca, took about an hour. I believe they are still there, 2nd dose booked in November.

Probably the same as my neck of the woods.

60+ Astra Zeneca

Under 60 with certain underlying symptoms Astra Zeneca

Under 60 & healthy Sinovac for the 1st shot, Astra for the 2nd

doesn't matter where the vaccine is shipped from, until an app or similar that can prove the vaccine is genuine, you still have to go through the same process as someone unvaccinated

"Dr Somchai, can I give you 10,000 baht to make a fake vaccine certificate?" "Yes Sir"

I refer to the west as I assume most on here are from western countries, therefore more relevant for traveling home

Singapore and Malaysia already have the app to show proof of authenticity of vaccination. Thailand can do so easily, if it wants to. Question of when is one up for debate for another day.

I was going to reply to the OP by saying "What could go wrong?". I won't bother now.

Bangkok hospital will do anything if there's a dollar in it.

There's more staff stood around in there than Big C stores.

Another example of farang second.

My lady gets sinovac day one, followed by Astra Zeneca day 23.

Certainly a different time frame.

Correct, and as far as the available info is correct , the vaccination will happen in Central.... If you follow the daily Timeline it's one of the places where most infections occur presently..... Makes one wonder.. Next to that remains the question whether or not the AZ provided here is accepted in Eu....

Well, unless you are a moderator, you can't change your original post due to time limitations for members in their posts.  From that perspective, its a mute observation.  You also already posted trying to clarify your initial poorly typed post.

There would be no need for me to tell you about my post mentioning other countries if you had taken the time to read (1) who it was in reply to , and (2) what posts it was replying to.

But since you ask ...   I wrote a post with a 'guess' as to why people in might want to go the Bangkok Hospital for 2x Sinovac jabs of the low efficacy Sinovac.  A user on this thread clearly did not understand my guess, and they asked for an 'article' reference (or example). So I gave them one example, which was Singapore where Pfizer was rejected in lieu of Sinovac (so people in Singapore could go to China).  Ergo, people in Thailand, who need/plan to go to China, may elect for two of the rather low efficacy Sinovac (instead of what I consider a superior AstraZeneca) strictly because it allows them to go to China - and my Singapore reference proves some people do think that way.

Alternative to Waiting for Pattaya Vaccine Rollout

Up until 20 August, there is a choice of vaccine at Bangkok's MedPark Hospital.

Pfizer, Astrozeneca or Sinovac - you choose on arrival, there is no charge.

They prefer you to pre-register at medparkhospital.com and select a date/time but they were not too strict about this when I went outside my appointment time but on the registered day. You will be given a second appointment at the same time as the first jab.

Similar to the other posts, if you are over 60, you go straight in and get jabbed, if under 60, you need proof of one of the underlying medical conditions.

I was vaccinated a few days ago, the process was very streamlined, and I left the hospital an hour after I arrived.

For those prepared to go to Bangkok from Pattaya, I would recommend this approach, rather than waiting for Pattaya hospitals to come up to speed for everyone.

I am over 60, have tried to register at Memorial and BPH without success. Others appear to have done so, but it appears to be a bit haphazard, with no firm appointment dates - things will probably take a positive turn in this regard at some future time, but I didn't want to wait.

There are no roadblocks or checkpoints between Bangkok and Pattaya at the moment.

If you feel you need to rest after the jab, you can stay at Ibis Sathorn hotel, a short walkable distance away for well under 1,000 THB, and go back to Pattaya the next day.

The downside of all this is that you will be up for 2 return taxi trips to Bangkok.

No. It was you who inaccurately replied, quoting a post of mine ... and I will quote your post :

doesn't matter which vaccine you get now, it won't be recognised by the west for years for travel purposes

Thailand could be bottom of the list of countries where the vaccines given are recognised as genuine

So I was replying to someone who specifically and inexactly, replied to a post of mine.

And your ultimate response?  You cast insults when your logic fails.

I signed up with multiple places, especially last week. I was notified this morning I will receive Pfizer at a BKK hospital on Monday…..I was surprised and happy to hear this. I will drive up from Pattaya and take my Thai wife, and I will try to get her the same vaccine at the same time….you never know, may get lucky.

None.  Just called.  They opened registration on July 1.  They are full.  Follow our social media for updates

555555555555 what a joke this country is and this news source

It's really great to hear about vaccination options for everywhere except areas in Northeast Thailand.  When will expatvac come to areas like Ubon/Sisaket?
