I think  "released" from hospital would better describe what happened to the people

They may have been released into home quarantine meaning they have not fully recovered

Just another misleading word game from the authorities - something they are constantly doing, another example is referring to people as vaccinated after only one shot

Why don't they just tell the truth

Tell the truth????????????????

Who said people cannot go to work did you read the reports on their lockdown, it does not mention stopping people from going to work unless they were part of the closed businesses order.

I'll carry on believing the reports on the lockdowns they've had, thanks anyway:

"The Lao authorities have announced an easing of lockdown restrictions in provinces with no COVID-19 infections. Most businesses (including gyms/spas, sports facilities, night markets, tourist attractions, restaurants, shopping malls, retail shops and food markets) may open if COVID preventative measures are in place. These may include providing alcohol gel, face masks being worn, 1m physical distancing and checking temperatures. However, some entertainment venues remain closed and the sale of alcohol is prohibited."

The US embassy reaffirms they are committed to donating 1M doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Thailand as previously announced. “We are working on logistics to deliver these vaccines as quickly as possible. The US remains with Thailand in the fight against this pandemic.”

Thailand on Monday (August 16) reported 21,157 new COVID-19 cases and 182 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

Still holding those figures, but with mass testing about to become available over the counter I think it's going to explode.

Thank you China ???????? (Non-NATO treaty ally United States...a couple million doses ????????)

Are you aware that China has donated only 500,000 doses to Thailand? And that with the stipulation that Chinese nationals resident in China get first dibs on it? The USA is donating 2.5 million doses of Pfizer with no strings attached.

ChulaCov19 Vaccine as Effective as Pfizer’s

King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society and the Chula Vaccine Research Center announced the achievement of their ChulaCov19, Thailand’s first mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, after the first phase of its clinical trials with Thai volunteers on June 24. They developed the vaccine together with the University of Pennsylvania.

Prof Dr Kiat Ruxrungtham, vaccine development head of the Chula Vaccine Research Center, said 36 volunteers aged 18-55 years who participated in the trials were safe and did not develop any severe side effect and the vaccine stimulated antibodies as highly as other mRNA vaccines could including the vaccine made by Pfizer-BioNTech. Besides, the vaccine could cope with the original variant of COVID-19 as well as 4 new variants namely Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta, he said.

It is good news but not great news. Curevac, the German pharmaceutical manufactuer and a pioneer in mRNA delivery systems, also had promising early results but ultimately its vaccine wasn't deemed effective enough.

It’s official, the partial lockdown and curfew has been extended to 31st August when it will be reviewed again. The restrictions put in place two weeks ago will continue as before. The only difference is that the banks in malls can now open #Thailand

The proposal to link Phuket to other selected tourist destinations in the 7+7 scheme has been approved by the CCSA. This means that international travellers now only have to spend their first seven days in Phuket before moving elsewhere on sealed routes for the other 7 days.

Chonburi Public Health Office is reporting 1,223 new cases today and 9 more deaths. Most new cases are in Chonburi City (219), Bang Lamung/Pattaya (223), and Si Racha (458). There are now 20,850 patients in care

For many days now, Phuket has recorded no new deaths. Granted that Chonburi has about 4 times the population of Phuket but I wonder if the high levels of vaccination in Phuket are actually having an effect. Since Apr 3 there has been a total of 14 covid deaths recorded.

Understandable imo.

Personally I don't need to attend bank but seems many Thai do.

Apparently the queues were not workable with mall banks closed.

I'm sure we can trust the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to be telling us the truth!!!!

Like Myanmar, their high death rate relative to cases suggests that many cases are going undetected, to a higher degree that is happening in LoS. There is virually no testing in Myanmar (15K tests a day if you are lucky).

One would certainly hope so, it maybe kicking in around about now but over the next few weeks we should be able to gauge that better.

Currently since April 1st there have been 14 deaths and 1,989 official covid community cases so a mortality rate of around 0.72%

Bangkok’s Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital announced on Monday that there was no “VIP” list for Pfizer shots and no nominees were added to the list of vaccine registrants.

Corruption watchdog asked to investigate Pfizer vaccinations at Bhumibol Hospital

Srisuwan claims that his own investigation found that the list was printed in alphabetical order, instead of by priority, and that there are duplicate names with some names replaced by numerals. He also claimed that the hospital was allocated more vaccine doses than the number of medical personnel and that several of them have not been given their third booster jabs.

The government is also considering a Covid Pass for the reopening of the country. This would mean one would need proof of being vaccinated to enter indoor places like say restaurants or bars. It is only a proposal at this time. #Thailand
