Bolt ride service -- what's the difference between economy car and a Bolt car?

I know many of you are using Bolt. A newer kid on the block and very good prices (for a change). Economy is always the cheapest, then Bolt cars, and then some other more expensive options.

So what are the Economy cars like? Do they smell or something? Are the drivers surly? Why would you choose a Bolt car over Economy?

This is what I received from Bolt when they first started operations here. I'm not sure if any of it still applies. I imagine "Bolt Base" is now "Bolt Car" ? :

At Bolt we have 5 ride categories.

Bolt Base - Starting fare from 35 baht Standard rate (All type of cars will be in this one)
Bolt Economy - Starting fare from 26 baht 15% cheaper than Base rate ( All type of cars will be in this one too if the drivers agree with Economy rate)
Bolt Comfort - Starting fare from 75 baht 30% Higher than Base rate ( Only cars in premium category will be in this one)
Bolt XL - Starting fare from 75 baht Higher than Comfort Rate (6-9 seaters ie SUV and Van)
Bolt Taxi - Starting fare from 35 baht Taxi rate (This will only be for Taxi)

Not sure. I have only been in one Bolt I  worried about. Phuket Central Floresta to Patong the dudes brakes were squealing bad on the downhills if it was raining I probably would have bailed. Not safe.

I got a Bolt the other day and surprising to me it was the size of a fiesta, made me wonder how small the "Economy" would be

I also know Bolt as the name of a car model, manufactured by GM in the USA, I believe, a hybrid or fully electric vehicle, I am not sure which.

It won't be one of those!

if you absolutely need a bigger you can choose one of the expensive options.  But if you choose Economy you might get a big car anyway.

Personally the cars have been ok when I select economy... sometimes even a larger green and yellow cab.

Yes. I have had small cars, big cars, luxury minivan and baht bus all turn up. I only ever select economy.

Not been in Thailand for a year now. What is Bolt? Like Grab but cheaper?

I took took two economy car rides today. Both large late model taxi cars. The first one was excellent and had a plastic barrier in place. The second one no barrier and a somewhat mentally disturbed driver. 5 stars!  The cynic in me says that Economy and Bolt gets you the same cars and its just a way to give people the choice of paying more.
