Though its name suggests it has closer links with communities upcountry, the Rural Doctors Society (RDS) is now a hero to Bangkokians after it stepped up to battle the raging outbreak in the capital.

Only three times though and only in BKK. I really can't see why this isn't being ramped up nation wide. The army could be brought in to help. This of course will not happen as this type of mass testing to seek out the virus would surely see numbers skyrocket to show the real numbers and spread of this virus. They don't want that. They want to hide numbers instead.

"There are 20,515 confirmed cases and 7,210 probable cases from ATK testing."

How very clever to shift more and more testing to rapid antigen tests.

This was always going to happen

Slow burn needed on the smoke and mirrors for Oct opening.

True.

I wonder if the Ark Bar in Samui has the swim up bar pool all ready for the the sandbox extension plan.

Seems all systems go.

Why are they not included?

If Rapid Tests are that inaccurate then why have them.

They should be included.

They are not included because the Government wants us to believe that the vaccines are working, even so the lock down. The country must open in October and with risig cases as the is the rapid test were included there would be more than 27.000 cases and that is not good for the image of the Government. So now we have cases in general people, prisons and not counted rapid tests.  Easy to manipulate the numbers

So the "doomsayers" have been proved right?  Not really something to gloat about.

So can we gloat that the "goodsayers" have been proved wrong.?

Got to gloat about something.

“The tourism industry must adapt to the changing behaviour of travellers due to the pandemic

No domestic tourism  Stay at home.  Should have been put in place from April.  What could be simpler?

TAT estimates 2021 tourist revenue at THB625 bn, most from domestic travel

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) estimates total revenue from tourism in 2021 will be THB625.7 billion, most of which, or THB540.7 billion, would come from domestic tourists who are expected to make 100 million trips across the year.

The number of total foreign tourists was forecast to be 1.2 million. They are expected to contribute around THB85 billion in revenue to local tourism businesses.

“The tourism industry must adapt to the changing behaviour of travellers due to the pandemic,” TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn pointed out on Tuesday.

Opinion: Prayut thinks you, yes you, are too stupid to notice

The Prayut Chan-ocha administration thinks you are stupid. Let me rephrase that. The Prayut administration thinks that all Thai people are stupid.

That is why they don’t think that you would notice when they snuck their amnesty clause into the Communicable Diseases Act.

The statistics are fairly meaningless, especially as no-one seems to believe them, but the remarks and comments are interesting.

I dunno, seeing the complete capitulation from 145th in the world for covid to about 35th in some form of data is a real eye opener for the world and the useless Thai government - even if we actually all think the number are way higher

Said all along its x10-x20. Not in this ‘government’s’ interest to show real amount (right up there with China on that score), even if they were competent enough to know.

The Civil Court accepted a complaint from 157 health massage parlor operators who sued the government for about 10 million baht for closing their business amid COVID-19 outbreaks without financial aid and set Sept 21 for case examination.

When I first looked (don't know when) it was 177. March/early April 117. Also as I previously posted if today's antigen positives were added Thailand would be number 2 for new infections per capita. Weelkly trends Thailand is sitting at number 8.

“The mass vaccination campaign started in June but the rollout is being hastenedby Thailand's worst coronavirus wave so far, which is challenging Bangkok's…”

actually the rollout is not being hastened, not from the original plan anyway. It is currently far behind schedule and if it is being accelerated, it is to try and get back to the planned level of vaccinations, rather than get ahead of schedule, as the article implies.

I won't be surprised if it opens late December. By October at least 80% of the people in Samui should be fully vaccinated,  this should be enough to fully reopen without quarantine.

Another excellent day.

Current calcs predict that at this rate 70% of Thais will be double dosed within 6 months. If that targets met they have surpassed many expectations.

Great boost for the people on the Island

Sure fire to be popular as always with the Xmas/NY getaways.

NatapanuN explains the death toll has suddenly swelled to record high of 312 #Covid19 deaths in a single day today & 20,515 new infections as it's an "accumulated" figure of fatalities from some provinces. Means reporting was delayed, leading to higher stats #โควิด1
