It is a direction of the Provincial Governor. The puu yai just carries out the orders, unless you do it differently in the city.

I don't live in a city, just a Village/ small town. I have never heard my wife mention any headman even after 15 years here. But I take on board what you have said.

But you can tell the forum all about how useless, uneducated they are.

What a lot of you are missing is the fact covid is being introduced into villages from people mostly travelling back from Bangkok or other red zones.

I've been told by medical staff that sometimes up to 80% of my provinces daily cases can be traced to an outside arrival not quarantining then spreading it to family and friends. I imagine the same could be said for other provinces.

The locals, pu yai barns, volunteers and police have been told to report anyone not following the rules with police escorting non compliant people to quarantine. Word spreads fast even to neighbouring villages.

Just about every largervillage i drive through has it own little quarantine area.

I've done ASQ followed by another 14 days home quarantine. It not a big problem.

Well said. I add that it seems to me there's  an ongoing / historical factor that a very high % of Thai folks (county and city folks) don't read newspapers and don't watch TV news programs (flip over to the soaps) so they are very poorly informed.

Further, many folks (more especially the older folks) grew up being told/observed that it's not their business to decide anything, just do as you're told by the puu yai baan.

Then there's a reliance on whether the puu yai baan understands the details and whether he/she does regularly inform the village folks.

I take it you mean AN members? I am not telling the forum anything, I have learned a lot through reading TV/AN and living here  over the last 15 years, so all I am doing is giving my opinion which is what all the posters do. So think again before coming away with such nonsense.

Really? Doesn’t he blurt his messages from the village tannoy system in the morning and evening?

We thought we needed to introduce ourselves and we needed a little assistance, turns out it’s nepotism .. his wife’s father used to be headman - even tho we have land, we made small talk about some more, his house is prime land overlooking the village reservoir and he came up with more land in prime locations at exorbitant prices, all belonging to his wife’s family.

They may get orders from the municipality but I would imagine they have creative license on ways to enforce and selectively use enforce the rules that benefit them financially.

The day we moved from our house there was no directive from the municipality, he bowed to pressure from local residents, 14 days self isolation wasn’t announced until the day we arrived - and then it changed 2 days later to state quarantine.

General ignorance and poor education - the 100%

I have heard messages in Thai from loudspeakers attached to telegraph poles nowhere near any people except in passing vehicles. I assume that would be the headman, just shows their mentality.

I would certainly agree with your last paragraph.

sounds to me as if he is protecting the people in the village..  many people safer at the expense of a few..

Those who travel to the area report to the public health officers / village health officers, community leaders in the area immediately after traveling to Sisaket province or residing in Sisaket province and scanning QR code to register all and screening travel history from risk areas.

Stop meeting people. If you feel unwell, please inform Kinglay staff 082-xxx-xxxx Han found violators inform Mr. Amnat H hotline number 081-xxx-xxxx."

1 dose of AstraZeneca vaccine for not less than 14 days,

1 dose of AZ is not sufficient protection and this is coming from those in control and who must be obeyed , similar to the Phuket sandbox when they said 1 sinovac at least needed to qualify working in Phuket . Even the top government officials go along with this . Why are they not aware of the correct requirements ?  B/S baffles brains ?

All local municipalities secure a loose-knit societal/political kinship with a Phu Yai, Arbator, Ombudsman, Village Council, etc - usually elected in a round about manner.

I've done ASQ followed by another 14 days home quarantine. It not a big problem.

It is a bit of a problem for me, I have limited time here and allot to do.

All of witch will take longer than expected because of COVID restrictions. I only have 90 days on my Non-o (Getting a multi entry is useless now) and I do not want to go through the hassle and money required to do the 1 year extension.

We can only stay  a max. of less than 6 months.  Otherwise my wife will loose her ability to get US citizenship. Otherwise she has to wait another 3 years and more problems with US immigration.

I will probably still have to do the 1 year as I anticipate not having enough time, having lost almost 1/3 of my time to ridiculous quarantine requirements. I will probably end up having to purchase 1 year of insurance and go through Thai immigration hoops just to get less than 3 more months use from all that.

Getting a covid extension now will not help and I do not anticipate it being available when I need it.

Hoping for the best and expecting the worst. It's usually the latter. =[

I do understand the need to be extra safe.

However these people carrying COVID from province to province are most likely unvaccinated people that are visiting bars and shopping malls before they return home. Not usual fully vaccinated people that received 3 PCR tests, reported their temperature 2 times a day then left 14 day ASQ and went straight to the country.

To me if you are contracting and or spreading COVID there are just a few main reasons:

- you are either forced into a dangerous situation like nurses or poor working conditions in a factory/construction site

- you are being irresponsible, ignorant or just not being safe

- you are exposed and infected by the above two without your knowledge (least likely)

The germaphobes had it right all along. Whoever points and laughs at someone using a tissue to open a door or carrying disinfectant with them now is just ignorant by choice?

People in our town always looked at my funny. Now they do it with ignorant hatred when most cases are spread by the locals.

Sigh, please forgive my lengthy rant...

Sincerely,

Frustrated with humanity... =[

I can not express in words how relived I am about the COVID extension being pushed out until November.

It makes all this trouble that much easier to swallow...
