Haven't been around on here for awhile, and coming back this weekend was shocked at the responses to some topics by many members here.

 

A simple topic where someone asks for advice or whatever and responses are mostly ridicule, insulting, accusing the OP of lying, is saying "x", is not sayingyx", has a hidden agenda,, or is being paid to post, and more.

 

The autopsy of every word or looking for hidden meaning is just bizarre

What happened here and why is everything seemingly totally over analyzed and disected like that ?

 

Sure as hell put me off posting what I wanted for fear of being attacked, so instead posed this question.

But I do agree with you, some of the arguments/discussions on here, and 'over the water' are ridiculous.

Some people are sat at home , bored and nothing to do , an underlying feeling of frustration , their brain has slowed down and nearly come to a halt and the only thing they have left to do is criticise others and argue and complain

It seems more prevalent on this forum than others    (where many ex TV posters are switching to).

I have seen this unnamed 'other forum' mentioned half a dozen times by different members now.

 

Which forum is it? This is a genuine question. Surely it isn't something top secret. There is still SOME free speech allowed on TV/aseannow. Please name it.

Perhaps a little thing like corona lockups making people PO and wanting to vent.

Anyway, I haven't seen anything different since before world news was eliminated, except certain posters from there are now lurking on other subforums IMO looking for someone to attack. Back then they more or less stayed on that forum, so one may not have noticed them.

I too have noticed the increase in bitterness over past few months.

 

Sad really. I use the forum to try to keep up with current events in LOS and learn from questions /experiences of others.   I try really hard to simply ignore all the negativity and bickering. 

 

But it is getting more difficult.

You do realise that you are posting on "The Pub", do you not? For information about current events in LOS, this is not the subforum to be on, IMO.

I don't see much more negativity on this forum than previously, but you have to bear in mind that people are restricted in their viewpoints, and prefer to argue rather than taking on board and accepting what the other party says - of which this is a prime example, refusing to accept the negative accusations labelled at the forum in general, and instead contrarily arguing positively.

 

I suppose some of us are just deliberately contrary, as the OP says.

It has been like that since day one.  Full of bitter trolls and bored pensioners.

Actually did not find that true - much worse on other forum with many quacks  posting to support a cause IMHO.  This remains the best forum for Thailand but as noted it has lost a lot of posters due to various reasons this year and some of the new blood has indeed not exactly been helpful.  But this seems to be the internet - every decade or so new communication paths open and old ones start to die.  It is a TikTok age - obviously some of us did not make the cut.

Lockdowns seem to have affected the mental health of many forum members....  But others are simply too sensitive and struggle to survive in the 'real world'.  Remember the old adage "sticks and stones..."

 

Personally, I don't give a **** if someone disrespects me (whatever that phrase means!),  or is rude to me, talks down to me etc etc.  I just put them on ignore to save wasting my time on reading their **** ????

Thats strange, seeing as how I   dropped out of two other "forums"  , actually bitch clubs,  to join up here.  I find it the best by far, especially the Real Estate section, or rather the sub headings there,  for  advice, help and assistance  for  work around the house..   To each his own I suppose.
