Business leaders are expecting an influx of foreign tourists and investors when Thailand reopens its doors to the world on November 1.

“Reopening Thailand will open up many opportunities,” said Stanley Kang, chairman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had earlier announced a phased reopening of the country to foreign visitors without mandatory quarantine from November 1.

Keep dreaming.

Can't drink, can't smoke, can't get a leg over, Gov. keeps changing its mind, who is daft enough to book LOS...

But wait, perfect for clergymen needing a holiday........????

If one thing is sure then this one: they will fork it up

This gives the world an idea of the ideology here.....plane loads of tourists chomping at the bit to hop on the flights after Nov 1.

The elixir of fantasies has been imbibed by the Junta, it's leader and the cabinet.  They are awash in fantasies and dream of lining their pockets more and more....very sad as they have no idea what reality really is....case in point is the opening with still restrictions and requirements that a normal person living in the country does not have to adhere to.  Double bleeping standards....

Speculation with a heavy helping of wishfull thinking.

Do they really think tourists have booked holidays already?

I booked my (cancelable) flight for mid-November. Waiting for the official rules before I do more than that. Not sure I count as a tourist though.

Everyone who enters Thailand for whatever reason will be counted as a tourist...

You know how the numbers game works.

Delusional as always. When Anutin publicly announced the continued wet blanket smothering pubs and nightclubs, he killed any hope for a robust high season.

The only investors who might come would be the Chinese eager to snaffle up businesses they ruined in the first place; BUT China has banned foreign travel for its citizens.

In the case of Pattaya who really would come in November? a trickle of die hards maybe?

But if they cant have the simple pleasure of sitting having a beer with a brass watching the sunset and theres going to be a plastic screen between you and the honey youd rather have in your lap........ its pretty sterile.

Of course Pattaya does offer other attractions but dont see the queues of families of western tourists wanting the shopping, dining, resort and world class beaches experience and the full Covid package.

I understand they are not even issuing new passports at this time.

????

Wow, it is sure amazing to witness the great plans for Thailand s high tourist season

and the re opening of the country on November 1st.  By November 15th, when there is still only

a small percentage of the hopeful tourists numbers arriving, and the hotels tell the government that

there is no large booking, do you think that the government and TAT will try another tactic to

get a few more tourists to please come to Thailand.

Geezer

Can't book a flight without a COE demanding a minimum 7 days ASQ...what's the point of all these November 1 press releases until you can actually do something

I think the unelected PM and his Junta do have an idea of reality, don't forget that most of them are soldiers, not politicians, and yes, you are right about them lining their pockets, but they don't dream of it, they just do it, and that's where their thinking starts from.
