So what are the alcohol rules right now?  On Samui we've been able to get a drink for a few days now, everywhere seems to be opening up/getting ready.  One of the beach clubs even has a DJ event on today.

Not like that on Koh Phangan we’re still having to drink out of tin cups and coffee mugs ☹️

Both Samui and Phuket have restaurants that are allowed to sell alcohol - legally.

(Bars as well in Phuket?)

This is down to the Samui Plus/Phuket sandbox. And high numbers of locals that have had two or more vaccines.

Here is the list for Samui.

Suddenly you're a medical expert? You need another test after arrival in the UK too, within 2 days. I'm sure these aren't the only two countries in the world demanding this.

Yes reopening the country to allow tourists into the country again is the best idea to help the economic going again, it might take a bit of time but is a start.  Reopening for fully vaccinated tourists is the best option, but it should be a straight forward and easy, like for fully vaccinated approval jabs tourists landed in Thailand shouldn’t have any other conditions like having to take a test or quarantine. If fully vaccinated tourists have to go through hassle conditions districts-ions for holidays they will don’t bother, they rather go a country that is hassle free to enjoy their holiday.

it is so stupid to be excited the "Good days are back again"

let rephrase Friday's decision for the fully vaccinated tourists (rich or poor)

1. you can come but need to retested again.

2. you need to have  smart phone to download the APP.  Thai App have hacked and personal information has been stolen. Tourist do not want to hassle with government APPs

3. you need to stay in an ASQ hotel for 2 days minimum or longer depend on how fast the processing time of the lab. How many days to book the ASQ is not clear.

4. you need to buy the useless health insurance.( why?)

5. if you go to the beaches, you will waste 2 more days for transportation

6.out of 7-10 holidays.. the time left for holiday is cut down to 2-5 days.

7. curfew until 11 pm.. where can you go at night? nothing to do

8.no Nana, no Soi cowboy and no Patpung... how fun it is- sex industry is dead.

9 Mountain- no...beautiful park - no , nothing to do

where any tourists will go for fun after a long and expensive airfare to visit Thailand..

NO...tourist  will go another country for fun and enjoy myself.

“Repair this planet, not find the next”.

At the end of a (Sir) Richard Attenborough series ("Life on Earth"?) he was standing beside a huge NASA rocket, and commenting on the fact that America had just authorising the spending of millions of dollars into investigating the possibility of colonising another planet, and he brought the entire series to an end by asking "Would that money not be better spent looking after the one that we've got?"

Words of wisdom from a very wise and talented man!

Such reasoned and similar pearls have been repeated by numerous souls recently, all to fall on ridicule or ignored by the usual circles. We don't realize what we have until it's lost.

Truth be told, Prayut and the rest do not know what to do or how to do it. And in fairness, can not really blame them as this kind of mess has never happened in our life time.

As usual Thailand has too many experts with opinions and yet not a single one has any knowledge or expertise.

Yes Thailand need tourism and yes everyone wants big spenders. But one has to also offer something in return to get the big spenders.

Thailand does not have anything to offer to big spenders, starting from lack of english language skills all across the board, down to simple footpath to walk on or a meter taxi to hail.

It is indeed silly to have people tested upon arrival when they were tested less than 3 days prior to flying.

It is somewhat silly to open up when you have a curfew in place, restrictions on alcohol, business operating hours and places to party.

Even big spenders would want to have drinks in a hotel lounge or a bar. or have wine with their meals

well spoken and correct.

true true and true

fully vaccinated and proof of tested before departure should be enough

to be tested again will mean quarantine again in an ASQ hotels for best 2 days to worst case7 days depend on how fast the hospital return the test result. Knowing Thailand 5 days minimum. It is a show stopper.

this idea of  retesting again will be appalled for visitors to Thailand. they will go somewhere else.

There are so many beautiful beaches around the world.

the only thing that people are willing to withstand long expensive flight and go thru the hoopla

is the sex industry of Thailand. They can get rid of the gogo bars but are they are going to take away the massage parlors that government people use them a lot?

Thailand does not have mountain or as many flower garden as many part of the world. without the cheap sex industry nobody will come.

Mass tourism is good. people spend money on vacation rich or poor.  people on holiday do not want their hands tied.

Well configured and expanded effort.

But their authoritarian ears aren't listening to any such reasoning.

The learning curve is nil.
