฿130m ‘stolen’ from over 10,000 Thai bank accounts in just four days

About 130 million baht has been mysteriously withdrawn from 10,700 bank accounts through credit and debit card payments between October 14th and 17th, according to President of the Thai Bankers Association (TBA) Payong Srivanich, today (Tuesday).

Banks to return money to cardholders who encounter recent irregular transactions

BANGKOK (NNT) - Abnormal money deductions through accounts tied to people’s credit and debit cards have affected many card users this month, with banks having identified irregular transactions involving 10,700 cards so far. The Bank of Thailand said debit cardholders will have their money returned within 5 working days and banks will now implement verification steps for transactions involving very small amounts.

Gov’t promises to do its best to assist laid-off garment workers

BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has emphasized it is doing its best to take care of laid-off garment workers, in response to a protest staged by workers from a lingerie factory. The Ministry of Labour said a legal case has been filed with the court to request compensation from their employer.

Three people injured after sedan driver crashes into road barriers in Banglamung

Many piglets drown, others evacuated from flooding in Thailand

The current flooding in many parts of Thailand is not only affecting humans, property and farmland, but has also led to the drowning of many farm animals, such as pigs, as their owners are unable to evacuate them to safety in time.

Thai Appeals Court upholds acquittal of three ex-PDRC leaders, fourth sentenced to 8 months

The Appeals Court sentenced a former core member of the now defunct People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to eight months in prison without suspension today (Wednesday), after finding him guilty of obstructing voting at Sukhothai School, in Bangkok’s Dusit district during the general elections in 2014.

‘Winter Is Coming’ – Thailand’s cold season to begin next week

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will extend its diesel price cap of 30 baht ($0.8987) per litre beyond this month, its deputy prime minister said on Wednesday, as global oil prices put a strain on consumers and an economy struggling from the pandemic.
