Anybody know what a blue zone is? My home province is not a blue zone and i have no idea if that means i cant go or just no booze. Dont care about the bars but if their tracking app is meant to keep us in the blue zones not much point in going back.

you suppose to stay in blue zone for 7 days. You can go out, just sleep at hotel - sandbox model.

Chose zone the nearest to your home or invite your family to join you for one week holiday. I would chose seaside - pattaya, hua hin, ratchaburi or even phuket. Nice time together after long no see. SHA+ hotels start from 400b for a double room. You still pay that for single occupancy

Considering each potential traveller has their own unique circumstances that may or may not allow them to meet all the requirements then yes indeed it is

"What-About-Me"

Yes and if each individual traveler has their own circumstances and can figure out a way to comply with the NOV 1 regs that's fine -- and if they don't meet all the requirements given their own particular circumstances, they can maybe wait for the regs to be modified more to their liking.

The entry requirements and qualification path right up to receiving a 'go' from being tested negative on the second RT-PCR seem to be clear, even if they don't suit everybody. But what is the path if you test positive?

  • Where, and to what kind of facility will you be taken?
  • Will you receive further tests and/or treatment?
  • How long will you be obliged to remain there?
  • What will be the personal costs?

It would be nice to arrive in chaotic Thailand with some degree of preparation for either eventuality.

hopistal or hospitel (hotel with medical staff, some equipment) for 14 days.

Insurance suppose to pay.

Test on 7th and 13th day.

They might let you go after 7 days, at their discretion, for example hotels and hospitels getting full. Still, they might want some money for doing so

if that is accurate i am fine with it. I usually spend a few days in bangkok to adjust anyway. A few more days wont kill me. Was that mentioned in one of the press releases? I didn't see it anywhere, although i stopped reading the daily rule changes awhile back.

richard barrow wrote about it in his first newsletter about entry rules.

"I just learned today that you have to stay in the first province that you picked. So, if these people want to go to Pattaya, they should try and arrive in Thailand during the day and book a SHA+ hotel in Pattaya with a hotel transfer. So, basically, these Sandbox people are stuck in one province, much like in the Phuket Sandbox. But after seven days, and after the negative test results on the last day, you then get the freedom of all 77 provinces."

Except when 1 night is 2 nights based on a late arrival. I have had the 2 night requirement confirmed by a test and go hotel.

wait  for the test delayed messages so they can screw  extra  nights  out of  you

just covid insurance.

from 1.5 to 2.5k per month (depending of departure country). For the whole stay in thailand or end of visa/extension

Which is  odd  when you can buy covid  insurance in Thailand for less than 1k  baht, smells  to me

We're not exempt any more.   Fully vaxxed Thai nationals up until Nov. 1 WERE exempt from pre flight PCR requirements but after Nov. 1 it's....:

The Royal Thai Consulate-General, Los Angeles, would like to provide information on travelling from the US to Thailand during COVID-19, from November1, 2021 onwards, as follows:

*******************************************
1. Thai nationals who are fully vaccinated (i.e. travel at least 14 days after completing required dose(s)), and have a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test result (no more than 72 hours before travel), will be exempted from quarantine BUT will have to stay at one of the SHA+ hotels or Alternative Quarantine hotels (AQ) for 1 night for another RT-PCR test at the hotel. If the test is negative, travelers will be able to travel to other domestic destinations freely.

because thai covid isnurance with below 1k covers 100k baht. Good enough for asymptomatic stay at the government hospital and for hospitel.

For entry they need $50k so 1.6mln baht, so to cover any hospital stay (likely private one) and for long time. Some patients stay for manu weeks and months, depending on their condition. That includes ICU for as long as needed

The first I've read of this.  You can't leave your zone for 7 days after arrival!  So not free to travel anywhere in Thailand.  And your first night has to be within 2 hours of where you land.  I'm guessing swampy.

Wher is that available? I haven't been keeping tracking of the best insurance but I'll need it to meet the ridiculous entry requirements.  Best I can find is AXA, 2 weeks for 1,900 baht.

Why?

Vaccination is  all that should be required, two tests is  just ridiculous

Why are the Insurance requirements listed in American $ and not Thai Baht ?

Dont  know  Wife  did  it for me last year when covid  kicked  off then renewed it  this  year 800  baht , probably doesnt cover 50k$, and dont forget that  lovely new  500 baht entry fee, I mean theyre  going to get 40  million visitors FOR SURE and surely 40 million x 500 baht  will  cover the miniscule  amount of hospitalisations...you  think

Thanks for stating the absolute obvious, my family in the UK decided not to wait for your post and cancelled their trip already

For someone that has entered and left 5 times over the last 18 months, all these positive changes are a step in the right direction and make a massive difference.

A lot of the people complaining also appear to be the ones that don't even travel, the mind boggles......

Yes not perfect but a giant step in the right direction and not too arduous for anyone who really wants to visit.

Those that don’t will find a an option until there are further relaxations.

My Thai girlfriend and her son flew from the US to Bangkok in June 2021. She had the J&J vaccination. First PCR test completed. COE wasn't received in time. Second test completed. Two tests completed while in 14 day quarantine. Received confirmed negative test last day, went to airport, flew to Udon, travelled to village where they were required to complete an additional test. Guess the negative result that morning was not good enough for the village medical center. Mind boggles!

My elderly mum wanted to visit, would probably be her last opportunity, as did my daughter and her children who have not been here now to see me for over 2 years, yes very arduous for them but then they are not a single man wanting to come over. If its fine for you then great, its certainly not fine for many others.

The biggest question as I have posted it earlier in the thread, and can not find an answer to is "Will these new requirements and restrictions on traveling to certain provinces for a tourist keep an already residing resident, like myself, who travels out and then back in from going there"?, and "How will the ATK test needed to be taken on Day 6 or 7 be reported if your staying in your own dwelling, like I have and many others have, or did they do away with that requirement as I do not see it in the infographic for this OP"? "How long will I have to keep the Mor Chana app on as far as tracking?, for the rest of my time in Thailand?"  Does anyone see a definite disparity here, or am I just overthinking this.

Great informative post from Mr Fairfield.

It cuts through all the moving goalposts and bs of the many 'Entry into  Thailand' threads.

If the post was beer it would probably be Carlsberg.

btw   The UK press today  is full of Thai beach photos and lazy journalism.        **Thailand now open - No quarantine**

Like I said. It all depends on how much someone wants to visit and what their reasons are.

Not ideal for sure but certainly not arduous compared to previous requirements, but then everyone’s definition of arduous will differ I guess.
