Years ago I would download music onto laptop then would transfer songs to a USB.

Since then I have just been listening to music/video on cell phone using YouTube and Bluetooth speakers. All good.

So now I would like to put some music onto USB for audio only.

Of course moving to current time..

There are Spotify and many others.

Also most folk have smart tvs and via WiFi can access the net (eg YouTube). I have zero idea of what's possible now.

Any suggestions welcome.

Tubemate app for your smartphone.

Downloads the mp3/mp4 from Youtube and other places

Thanks. Will check out link tomorrow.

Now for really dumb question..

At very least might give a laugh at my expense.

So new smart Samsung tv. Not sure of it's features.

Have connection to YouTube, Netflix etc via WiFi.

Is there a nifty way to get this onto a USB without using a laptop.

Have couple of Thai musician friends and we share interest in blues/jazz etc. They want me to give them a collection of music we both enjoy.

Guessing their plan is to enjoy with speaker portable thing (music box)

Presumably using PC is easiest for this?

4K_Youtube_to_Mp3 allows up to 25 songs per download in the free version and creates the mp3 with associated metadata. There's a free Spotify download add-on for Chromium browser to download tracks to mp3 also.

Rather than start a new thread.....

I will try here first. So I'm OP and used some of the suggestions posted above.

I ended up with downloading app "music downloader". It also has playlists etc.

I downloaded some files and they are in my phone under "files"

Can play offline so yes on the phone.

I thought it would be simple process to transfer music file to USB. Nup.

The videos on YouTube etc to show what to do look simple. Not working for me..

Any suggestions. Thankyou.
