Don't need porn when the real thing is available everywhere. IMO porn is for sexually frustrated males in western countries.

Probably the women wanted it but the men feared willy intimidation and voted no.

But having a brothel (a.k.a. karaoke bar/barber salon/massage parlor/restaurant/etc.) on every street corner and dispatching your daughters to Bangkok/Phuket/Pattaya to work as "telephone operator", "office clerk" or "sales lady" apparently is perfectly in line with Thai morality.

Should change the title:

Majority of Thai people never read a book and are not interested in education.

They also want to ban sextoys.

Pitty, each time a want to buy cucumber or turnib at Lotus's, they are sold out.

I think the numbers pro and contra are about the same as in any country in the west.

However I suspect the nay sayers are not all honest......

Same as he showed his love for us.

His a government official, not some drunk Thai guy mouthing off.

Like that moron,  Utuber in Phuket did.

( Keep up the good work dirty Falangs )

Porn Pros:

- reduces rape

- helpful with lookdowns

- teaching material

- stimulates the joy of experimentation

- is multicultural

Porn Cons:

- can lead to physically inferiority complexes (SDS)

- can lead to brutality in the case of inadequate sex education (love vs sex)

Conservative ultra-nationalists want to turn the clock back on many aspects of thai society.

But not so far as to when women walked around topless, apparently.

Sherman, set the way-back machine for 1925.

They work all as GM at the 5* hotels.

Pornography is illegal. A poll in this case is an oxymoron. It’s in the same line as doing a poll on drugs and other crimes. The fact that it was done suggests there is significant interest.

Not surprised. Have you seen a Thai man in a porn. The performance and size well below par. They don’t want their woman to have higher expectation. “If you can’t beat them……..hide them”

When asked, do you watch pornography, 45.86% of people said yes, the others lied.

NIDA Poll reports is delusional, if you asked or interview a Thai person if they watch porn they will always answer no, they would not tell you the truth because its a stigma, but reality is a different story

Thais never watch pornography.

The cheque is in the post

Promise i won't XXX in your XXXXX

All Just lies.

They do they just wont admit it I know of three female Thai friends who are never off pornhub

A short visit to my friend Google tells a different story,i will not post a link but have a look

around and be surprised.

The land of soapy massages and go-go bars and yet somehow miraculously...no one wants porn.  What a load

Do they Really know what the Thai people want or are the just guessing /or the people aren't telling.

Did they Ask the young adults and Kids? they may get a big Surprise.

Majority of Thai people who reply to polls are just liars !

"affect youth"

In Thailand about 1.5 million babies were born to teenage mothers between 2000 to 2014. In 2016 nearly 14%of all pregnancies were among adolescents.

I'd say porn is irrelevant to the youth.

As is the Thai government to the Thai people.

If Thai people are such devout Buddhists and opposed to the seamier side of life, who are all the customers of the short time hotels, karaoke bars, soapy massage parlours, go go bars etc etc? There are many more of these than can be supported by tourists or foreigner business and they can be found in every town in Thailand, not just tourist areas.

....not to mention that they also kill and eat animals in huge numbers.

Why waste your time watching that rubbish on TV or your PC / Phone when you can see it live in Thailand at your favorite watering hole.

62.89% said they totally disagreed as the proposal could lead to negative consequences on children and youth, making them become too obsessed with sexual topics. Thailand is a Buddhist country, therefore, such an idea is against Thai morality and could lead to more sexual crime and more sexual harassment, according to those who took the survey and NIDA.

The question is senseless and the concerns too little too late.  Porn might be legal, but it is totally available all over the net free (somebody told me about this, I don't watch it) and without consequences.  If masturbation was made illegal, how would it affect people doing?  Or eating?  Silly question.  The question would only become somewhat worthy if porn wasn't freely available, but it is.  It's kind of like burning rice and sugarcane fields being illegal.  Should we make that legal?  Why not?  Everybody is doing it anyway.

As for the children the concern is 100% valid, but every school kid in Thailand is already watching porn on the net.  All of them.  Ask any of them.  Most of the folks on here will deny watching the stuff (I certainly don't!), but the kids are quite candid about it, as if the question was no different than asking them if they ate breakfast.

And whomever thinks Buddhist morality is special is an idiot -- well, ignorant anyway.  The Abrahamic religions have the same moral standards, stricter, if anything.

This being said, I do not see how a husband, wife, son, father or mother would answer positively to these questions especially if they are not alone when polled 555

My personal poll shows an overwhelming 95% in favour 5% not against...the rest strongly opposing

I agree even I am not sure if "95 % are in favor, 5 % not against" ... what "rest strongly opposing" you are talking about: 95 + 5 = 100 %

You say porn is freely available in Thailand? I am not in Thailand right now but I read it is a) illegal to see and b) that sites are blocked. Not sure if your statement can stand like that.
