Perhaps something more clever as we hear from some of the world leaders? Probably something along the lines of: ”omicron will eventually come here, if it’s not already here, and the list of things that we are currently doing in preparation for a general community outbreak of omicron is: (insert list). Meantime we are in constant contact with the scientific community worldwide in order that we know asap what the exact ramifications of omicron are in terms of vaccine escape, severity of illness etc. rest assured, if further vaccinations are necessary to combat omicron, Thailand will obtain and deliver into arms, the necessary vaccine at the earliest opportunity. please do not panic, your government will do all that is necessary to protect you. It is up to you to protect yourself by taking advantage of the vaccines currently available to you.”
Thunglom
'under control" ? Here in Denmark we're seeing more and more cases of omicron each day that has not been related to traveling in Africa. We went from 18 cases Friday to 183 Sunday and i think we passed 300 yesterday. (EDIT. We're at 398) We do test a lot more than other countries (200,000 daily PCR test in a 5.8 million population plus 100,000+ quicktests) and we sequence a lot so of course we catch more cases, compared to some other countries. We're also starting to find the omicron in our sewer samples as well, so i don't think we're able to control it any more. We might be able to slow down the spread, but it looks like it's going to take over the delta within a short time if the pace continue. I will suggest Thailand to massively ramp up their PCR testing, if they want to keep track of the omicron variant. It's the only way to know how widespread it is. I don't know if Thailand do sewer samples, but they could do that too if they don't use that method now. ...well said...a great and accurate assessment.

tomacht8
The PM asked all ministries to come up with "a New Year present for the people. Yes, all those ministers who have more than 10 million in their bank accounts give away 1-2 million for the Thais who do not have enough to eat. The country leader should lead by example. It is gradually becoming apparent to many Thais that you cannot buy anything to eat for Prayuths words. ArcticFox
Omicron is under control. Well unless world governments want to stoke it into the next plague that only new vaccines can control which will inject another few tens of billions USD into Big Pharma. Governments dance to the tune of the highest bidder. So we'll see how much flipping and flopping goes on between now and year's end. And if not Omicron, then The Deadly Pi is no doubt lurking in the wings to bring us full-circle. 1

Longwood50
Has anyone noticed the marked shift in attitude towards coronavirus. For the longest time a single case of covid was enough to call for curfews, quarantines, mask mandates, alcohol bans and business closures. Now just remain calm, everything is under control. I guess the lack of tourist money finally knocked some sense into people.
