i showed him my phone driving licence, usually that annoys them but he was polite and said thankyou

I saw that checkpoint, slowed down to let about 7 motorbikes get in front of me, that jammed up the queue and they let me drive past.

Mine is in there and expire mid 2024.

For most of us, I would prefer the cops here, unless there is a real need for one. Then, it is roll of the dice. At least the cops here stay out of my face, and when they do hassle me, I push back alot. I mouth off to them, I raise my voice, and I make a real stink, if they are engaging in "petty mordida". Usually they back down, and if not I give them 200 baht. Rarely more than that. Impossible to do in the US. And if you need law enforcement, outstanding forensics, or a good detective, you can get it back there. Not here. Not likely.

 

Always remember one thing. The police here are not engaged in law enforcement. They are revenue collection agents, and they each have their own franchise. Nobody will ever touch them. They are protected at the highest levels. They do as they please.

What?  Since I posted this on Feb 24;

I've added all members that sent me a request (aprox 7), so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I also sent a request and you didn't reply. You do not seem to be able to check your Line friends requests properly. Anyway your Line group is now dead.

Sent me a request here on AseanNow?  I never received it.

My Line id isn't the same name I use here.

Edit:  I belong to 2 Line groups where people post if they see a police checkpoint, both on mute so no beeps in the middle of the night and both still active.

Forget about asking me now, I'm not in the habit of helping those that are rude.

What exactly is a "chat number" in Line?  5-10 silent posts of folks posting what you signed up for (police checkpoint notifications?) is too much? 555555.

It makes the field useless for notifications you're actually interested in. It will never go to zero unless you go in the group to view that rubbish. Personally i found it annoying so left, no need for it really if legal anyway

Why is it the only time i was ever asked for a bribe was about 20 yrs ago in Bangkok,never get stopped ,either
