True. Wonder if that too was a secret government plan. Btw the food and massage, you've got most men covered!

No. Out from California to everywhere else in the US.

All of which is faux Asian fare modified to fit the backward American [and other Anglophone cultures] palate.

Not all.

Go where the Thai people and well traveled foodies go.

The origin of Pad Thai is definitely interesting.

I wonder if it would sell as well if it was called Authoritarian Axis Noodles.

Not authentic, as they're using local products of inferior quality [not local Asian quality] and many real items in Asian cuisines cannot be found nor imported.

Like yourself, too many are fooled.

Shouldn't surprise.

You're wrong. I used to cook Thai food myself in California. There were huge markets to source authentic ingredients.

Most US towns definitely do not have a Thai restaurant.

Cities yes. But not towns.

Well most small cities anyway. The worst "Thai" restaurant I ever visited was in Russellville Arkansas.

Real bad.

It was even worse than that. There were literal massacres.

In a smallish town in Ohio right now - there is a Thai restaurant here - owned and run by Philippinos...

Yes, and even more, why do you need to have a problem with that? Can´t cook?

Back in the 80's finding a Thai restaurant = few & far between, at least around the greater SF/Bay area.....Finding a good one was even more difficult.....

You can find some great Asian food in North America. Some of it better than in Asia. Mostly in bigger coastal cities.

Every small town does seem to have at least one Asian restaurant (usually Chinese) but those ones tend to be pretty lousy, or at least inauthentic. Hard to blame the chefs tho, gotta cater to market tastes to stay in business.

In my area (Richmond, VA) there are 20 Thai restaurants.  I don't how authentic they are, though my wife knows of one that is supposedly good.  And it's not the one her brother works at.

Did I say I have a problem ?

The same could be said of the UK, along with the mandatory Indian and Chinese places.   In the US, Korean restaurants are also very popular but a rarity in the UK.   All down to the immigration demographics.

Ethnic food in various countries is modified to appeal to the pallet of the people that are part of the market it tries  to reach.

I am sure it is the same on the planet you are on .

I have not been to every town so I don't know, but most I have been have one,

Everyone likes Thai food , Though my wife is such fabulous Thai cook I am often disappointed by the fair at Thai restaurants in the US, and when in Thailand , in Khon Kaen where we are , where the restaurants cater to the local pallet and  use too much sugar, an a lot of stinky ......
