Buying covid19 insurance while living in Thailand

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a covid-19 insurance policy for 1 year. Ideally it would cover asymptomatic coverage.  I am currently residing in Thailand full-time on a retirement visa. Thanks for any info.

You can find them from cheap to expensive.  What's your budget?  BUPA is one of the best, but not cheap.  Safety Wing is pretty good.  And not too expensive.  You can even get policies at your local bank office.

Are you looking at this due to your visa renewal?

I don't need for my visa renewal but would like to buy a covid-19 insurance policy.

I have one with Roojai.com

Last year you could get a basic coverage (100k for hospitalisation and 1 million for death) for around 800-1000 Baht a year from Roojai and some others. I'm not sure if it's still available as some insurers stopped issuing those cheap covers.

My wifes's niece tested (+) had to spend 14-days in quarantine. Loss of salary from her job, but gained 100,000baht by having covid-insurance. Another relative collected 50,000b. They laughed all the way to the bank because the symptoms from the virus were literally nothing more than a cough.

As you can imagine word of easy money travels fast and the insurance company(s) have since tried to cancel the policies but were ordered by the government to honor them.
