BANGKOK (NNT) - The Test & Go entry pathway for international travelers will be re-activated tomorrow (1 Feb), and Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is calling on all relevant agencies to proceed meticulously as Thailand looks toward once again tapping into the tourism income stream.

 

Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said Test & Go is a policy implemented in accordance with the prime minister’s objective of enabling economic activities to progress alongside public health restriction measures, so people can earn income while the COVID-19 situation can remain subdued. He said relevant agencies are prepared to accommodate tourists while observing the highest level of public health measures, and this is especially true at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

 

According to the spokesman, many parties expect about 200,000-300,000 foreign tourists to enter Thailand in February, a number similar to that in December 2021. The number of visitors is then expected to climb in March. Mr. Thanakorn explained that the prime minister is advocating the use of soft power in such aspects as food, sports, films, music, arts, and performances to add value to Thailand’s creative economy and make these aspects of the country globally renowned so that more income can be generated.

 

The government spokesperson elaborated that Thailand’s tourism strategy is shifting in support of wellness tourism, as the government deemed the country has the capacity to tackle this specific tourism market that will be able to earn Thailand much more income in the future. He said clear work synergy goals and clear operational plans will be set for this endeavor.

How out of touch with reality is this guy and the rest of these people.

 

They aint coming in numbers until thailand stops creating such daft entry options.  Even with test and go the number will never exceed 300k a month and i seriously doubt they will get half that number if my own experience of going through the idiotic process at the airports and online is anything to go by. If they do not drop this nutcasery in the coming months and make it just flasjing your passport and maybe covid vaccine history  they will be lucky to hit 2-3 million this year

than i got an email to another address, saying WE ARE THE REAL THAILAND PASS, DO NOT

OPEN THE OTHER EMAIL - IT IS NOT FROM US !!!

SAME MESSAGE apeared on the THAILAND PASS until two days ago.

YES, mr. prayuth is well known around the globe in the fields of food, sports, films, music, arts and performances (what ever the heck that mean), and...but wait a minute, if he is that good, why the need for use of "soft power" (asian term meanning trying to persuade without violence)?

and in case that the "soft power" will not work, will the prime minister move to "hard power"?

The whole situation is just too complicated and full of conflicting priorities for them to get their minds around it. They are used to an ancient system where those in power can do whatever they want, and the words that come out are just there so the silence doesn't become deafening and no one loses face. And if things go to hades it's the fault of dark unnamed forces, and nothing changes.
