Yesterday Vietnam opened to international tourists without any restrictions...  Which economy will recover faster and where do you think the foreign tourists will go today?

not true. You still need 3 days quarantine in a hotel and a PCR Test on Day 3. So more or less same <deleted>:) But it's still a huge improvement to their super strict covid approach. If you want no quarantine at all, they only options right now are Cambodia and the Philippines

  • No. It allows travellers to pick up the virus LOCALLY. Wakey wakey! And here was I thinking someone with some nous would could along to challenge the authority and their over the top requirements, but

  • exactly, foreign arrivals have alread had 2x tests unlike most of the locals they will be mixing with, who is infecting who is the question and the bigger question - with omicron does it really matter

Incubation period for Omicron is short at 3 days.  Tourist arrives, tests negative prior to flying and then negative on day 1.  Travels around in tourist areas meeting people of all nationalities and

All this, despite the amazing job our glorious health minister is doing.

No, "they" (whoever you think "they" is or are) know that the alleged "government" of Thailand has no way to dodge, face or explain the abject failure of Prayut's laughable "re-opening" of Thailand. Blaming farangs or Burmese or Chinese virus-inventors is not the point. The point is that the so-called "government" has failed to control the spread of this plague. It's 100% politics, which is the reason for having a parliament and a two-day no-confidence debate..

How many governments have been successful in controlling the spread of this plague?

If they test negative previously to departure, and negative again on day one then surely they are being infected within Thailand?

Correct, but they would rather blame "dirty unwashed farangs" than take any responsibility themselves, e.g. the unforgivable delay in getting a vaccinatioin programme in place, and when they did, it was with a pretty much useless vaccine from "our Chinese friends"!

And if this is the level of intelligence seen in the Opposition, I fear that that's where they will stay!

How is Vietnam during July?

Any places where it's not rainy season worth visiting, because it looks like i'm not going to Samui,

if the politicians continue with these restrictions.

Hoi An is very nice and dry pretty much all year round.

Flight into Danang and then a short drive to the town.

Ba Na Hills is nearby and has, i believe, the longest sky lift in the world.

Stunningly beautiful place, a bit like a medieval French castle in the Vietnamese countryside.

One of my favourites in SE Asia.

You will also be spared the coach loads of Chinese.

Air Asia did fly from Don Muang.

I believe Vietnam still stipulate a 3 day quarantine.

Today:

16,462 confirmed cases

11,816 probable cases

136 cases from abroad

0.48% from "abroad".

OMG.  Stop test and go now.  Won't somebody please stop this incredible danger. ????

Ms Treechada Srithada, the party’s deputy spokesperson took issue with the fact that foreign travellers were free to travel throughout the kingdom after one day while only being required to return for one night to a hotel for a second test on Day 5 of the scheme.

I agree.  They should shut it all down.  5 days quarantine in an expensive SHA+ hotel or don't bother coming.  All the virus laden foreigners running around infecting good clean Thais is criminal.  Lock them up for 5 days for the good of Thailand.  Heck lock them up for 10 days to be even safer.  The SHA+ hotels will benefit which is good for the wealthy owners.

Honestly what planet are these people from, the travellers have just had 2 PCR tests both negative so who is infecting who you morons!!

Please Thailand at the next election please vote for people who can actually think rather those that continually publish misleading information.

If Thailand could test 95% of its population tomorrow they would be horrified how many test positive, this is Omicron so get it, get over it and get on with living normally.

What's wrong with the rainy season?  Most days you get scattered rain in the afternoon.  Sunny and humid the rest of the day.

Fully agree, but not sure if it is probably too difficult, to get a work permit for them...

Prefer as little rain as possible when on vacation.

Idiot-based politics to keep the country on track to increase wealth disparity! The oligarchs have done quite well in this crisis, so let's keep it going for them.

Nevermind it was your own border migrants, elites and native tourists that spread it in your country, create a propaganda campaign to blame anyone else.

So Thailand is afraid of international arrivals? Here's some news: international arrivals are afraid of Thailand! With all the assault, theft and brutality in the headlines, who wants to vacation in that?

Where is your perception of reality, Ms. T? Thailand is in major trouble and you are living in the past. Admit the virus is uncontrollable and learn to live with it, or face a prolonged economic disaster because of the xenophobia you perpetuate.

Disagree, it's already started and time will show how wrong you are.

From my perspective, even with vaccines and a much less dangerous variant of covid19, the Thai people (if we can assume they are as one) are unable to contemplate the idea of living with the virus, as opposed to eradication. In this respect they are very much like their Chinese neighbors.  It would be much better to let them do it their own way- which would likely also follow that of China too.  Each culture has its way, and it's unrealistic to expect Thailand to behave the way of UK or Denmark. Moreover because they had early success at preventing transmission- likely more luck than judgement- I believe that they want to to do the same with Omicron.  This is what appeals to them.

What a buffoon.  There are about 17000 reported cases a day and likely 2-3 times as many real cases a day and shes worried about Barry Bar hopper having Covid off the plane.  22 deaths a day.

About 80 people die on the roads each day so I assume its a more serious crisis. An estimated 32000 die of pollution a year. Thats 88 people a day 40,000 deaths in Thailand attributed to high blood glucose and diabetes. About 114 deaths a day.

Will we have test sugar, test driving, test oxygen and Go?
