For a country that prides itself on having Buddhism as one of the three pillars of state, Thailand shows remarkable flexibility in its interpretation of that philosophy. One might almost be tempted to say that morality here is driven solely by selfish considerations, not the least of which is the god Mammon.

Thailand has never had a functioning democracy and has a questionable human rights record in the south and elsewhere. It also supports the Burmese junta, China in Xinjiang and Tibet and is friends with Russia. The only concern for them is loss of tourism revenue and exports and a handful of Thai expats in Ukraine.

But Don should we wary of secondary sanctions. He can ask their buddies at Hwa  Wei, if he doesn’t know what that means.

I would suggest you both stop and walk away whilst your still able to post.

You're incessant bickering has been removed.

Very like Christianity.......the more 'religious' people become, the less Christian they behave.

PATHETIC.... and predictable...

From a country that has a long and rich history of autocracy, and only a fleeting brief taste of democracy.

Truth be told, they have more common thinking with Putin and those like him, than they do with the U.S., EU, and other democratic countries around the world.

This gutless clown would probably have given Stalin the benefit of the doubt when he staved millions in the Ukraine, disgraceful.

Poor Vladimir is in a world of trouble. He will either put a bullet in his head or someone close to him will.

Good to see Aseannow has child killer apologists posting.

Smart of him to say this.

A few more days until the Ukrainian army ceases to exist as a military body. Most of you guys here are clueless, living in the western media echo chamber. Brace yourselves for a big surprise.

Two cruise missiles hit "Freedom Square" in Kharkiv......at least 10 civilians killed.......but no need to rush and condemn anyone.

Trade deals, big baht for Thailand. Of course it is smart.

Condemning achieves nothing.

And then what....In a prolonged insurgency campaign, drip by drip, death by death, for years. Meanwhile. Russia becomes an economic basket case. Is that the big surprise?

I was going to say... in the future, the next time some country decides to invade Thailand again, I hope he's still around to urge everyone not to judge and that it's just the natural path of countries with varied interests....  ????

You are so wrong. You havent a clue . You belong with the dinosaur who started the need for this post. Ask your Russian buddies how Afghanistan worked out!?? Putin is very fortunate all countries are not allowing there armed forces get involved directly or that 30 mile column of vehicles would be srap now. This is all very sad and not helped by your comment . Ukraine people are incredibly brave , single minded and determined . My heart goes out to them . ????????

Big deal. Useless anyway. They can make billions in Russian trade deals.

...actually, it probably would.

But I can hope that some other important countries see Thailand for what they are, a Russian procrastinator to suit their financial agenda, and decide that banning travel to Thailand can help them change their mind.

Pick a side Thailand, based on morals, ethics and principles...rather than just rubles.

But they dont. Thailand did a deal with Japan in ww2. Afterwards the US were friends with Thailand.

Thais are smarter than the west.

Doing deals?......isn't that commonly known as commerce........and the only alternative to competing for resources is to invade?

Yes but getting kickbacks.

Russian needs the resources. Plus sea access. Putin doesnt want to give away resources to ... Biden.

And intelligent reasoning, among the masses, has little to do with anything - less this current affair.
