The US Embassy in Bangkok is joining in the fun after top Thai rapper Milli promoted the iconic Thai dessert Mango and Sticky Rice on stage at a music festival in Southern California.

In a Facebook post the embassy said that they were thrilled that "our favorite Thai dessert" was trending after Coachella 2022, the name of the festival.

"These former presidents also want a bite of this magnificent combo".

They had a cartoon graphic of the four presidents carved into the side of Mount Rushmore saying "Wow!!!" when faced with several plates of the delicious dessert.

The mango sticky rice craze continues in Thailand, after female rapper, Danupha “Minnie” Kanateerakul, a.k.a Milli, ate the Thai dessert during her performance at the Coachella event last weekend. This has prompted diplomatic missions in Thailand to join in.

The US embassy in Bangkok posted an edited photo of Mount Rushmore, depicting the four sculptures of the former presidents of the United States carved into the granite staring at a plate of mango sticky rice. The photo was posted along with the caption “The U.S. Embassy is thrilled to see our favorite Thai dessert trending after #Coachella2022. These former Presidents also want a bite of this “mangonificent” combo!”

The Swedish embassy also posted a video clip of their Ambassador to Thailand, J, trying mango sticky rice while asking people how to enjoy the dessert correctly. He said in the video that it was delicious and rated it 9 out of 10.

Well IMO it is the only Thai, or maybe even Asian, dessert that is of International standard. Certainly in my top 10. But my number 1 is still lemon meringue pie.

They're obviously rushed off their feet down at the Embassy.

Stop it with all this lip sevice and patting on the back. Its only done to humour them in the same way as we do children.

Look at that stupid cartoon posted by an Embassy no less.

How about having a mock up of some historical thai dignitaries swooning over fish and chips.

Perplexed says...i can find lots of mango at the market but no mango sticky rice sellers that used to be there.

This is the second year in a row

I'm waiting for the TAT to estimate 50.185 million tourists arriving next week just for the mango sticky rice with a dope deaf on the top.  (an even 50 mil would too obvious as made up).

Yeh, i think the last time I had lemon meringue pie was when I was a kid, Gypsy Tart is also yummy.....

One of the first delights I participated in when I first came to Thailand (After Soi Nana and Soi Cowboy!)

Absolutely lovely - should be made a National Trasure!

Glucose, fructose and sucrose sugars on top of carbohydrates.

Just what the obese, diabetic world needs !

It's been my favourite desert for nearly 40 years. Thai mangos in Thailand, Queensland mangos in Aus

My Thai mrs makes a delicious Lemon Meringue, but she also makes a whole ton of other stuff, Mango cheesecake, Crumbles of all flavours and stuff I can't remember at the moment ????????????

Obedient! Aren’t they . The local shop selling this has had a long Q for days . Now I know why ! Heavens above .

Slightly different flavour tho to what you found in the Soi's.

Do agree that it should be made a national treasure , unlike Haggis in Scotland,  Hotdogs in the States,  Roo steaks in Ozzie and Dolphin burgers in Japan...oh and Donkeys testicles in Russia....at least thats all they will be able to afford soon ...hopefully

You have a point, not exactly scarce commodities this time of year.

But it must be made with fresh gypsies :whistling:

Now Manchester Tart is a fond memory from school dinners ????

Sigh, I am so glad that the grown-ups are in charge of the US Government now.

Never had one, but the mention made me yearn for an Eccles cake!

As tasty as it is, it is mind boggling that someone eating something, makes the news rounds.

Definitely up there with the top 10 'Thai' desserts ... but ... it's a fruit.  Doesn't take a recipe or a genius to create.  Grow, pick, peel, eat.  If a simple fruit is getting top billing, that seems a pretty low bar.  Doesn't say much for true desserts here, that chefs need to create.

No different than a perfectly ripe Georgian or Jersey peach, strawberries or a beefsteak tomato.

A good Apple Pie, Brownie, CheeseCake, Cannoli, Black Forest cake, lemon squares (??)... that takes talent to produce and get just right, seems more of a challenge, and an accomplishment when done right.

This could become quite popular in the tropical parts of the western hemisphere, they have all the ingredients.

Unfortunately, the top choice mango (nam dokmai) for that dish is rarely available outside Thailand and if it is found it will not be that fresh or inexpensive.

Nana, soo cowboy then mango and sticky rice.

A real cultural odyssey.
