Daily News Thai Caption: Wife pushed down the steps

A Thai husband pushed his wife down some stone steps all because she wouldn't make him "laab" - minced raw meat with condiments.

She said she had already prepared something else for his dinner.

The tragedy happened on Saturday evening before Phaya Mengrai police in Chiang Rai were called to a house in Mae Tam sub-district.

Many villagers had gathered for the arrival of the police, reported Daily News.

Pannee, 56, had been taken to hospital with a head injury but died later. Police found bloodstains on the grass by the steps.

The man responsible  was Suk Chaiwut, 56, who was drunk and waiting to surrender to the police.

He had come home from work and demanded that his wife go and buy some beef to make laab for his dinner.

She said she'd already prepared something else. He pushed her and she banged her head.

A neighbor told the media that the wife was the breadwinner. The husband was lazy.

There are concerns about other injuries on the wife indicating other beatings - an autopsy has been called.

Police are waiting on those findings before laying charges.

Is 'laab' raw  meat?

Some do make Laab with raw meat, but that is not what you usually find on the menu. The one with raw meat is called Laab Luuat

What an utter POS. Hope the wife's family get their hands on him before the courts.

Made in the North and in Laos. My Ex-inlaws had a shop where that was all they sold, and people were coming from all over for it.  It was also served with a soup made of all of the innards.....

Tragic situation .

But the guy didn't deliberately try to kill his Wife , he may have just pushed past her and she fell awkwardly .

Although he shouldn't have even pushed her , he probably didnt mean harm to her , let alone kill her .

Some people are such fussy eaters , I will eat whatever's been cooked

I believe the raw laab is cooked in Lime, the acid in lime can 'cook' the meat.

Hope he likes rice porridge, and no more grog.

The raw Laab is very finely chopped beef (similar to beef tartare) with the raw blood added after

the other ingredients mixed in.

The cooked one is similar but as a rule are bigger pieces of beef.

I love a good beef tartare made properly at the table

There are some lines one crosses in this life, where the right to consume oxygen is essentially self revoked.

I guess maybe I am too rational, or too sober to understand why some men don't just walk away, and get a divorce, if they are so unhappy.

It can be made/eaten using raw meat. But I prefer it cooked.

No surprise, another lazy and drunk man-child waster.

Like so many Thai males unfortunately. Must be genetically encoded.

Hey, remember he is always drunk. No need for that much work. Just push him and all will be fine. ????
