A 38-year-old female Russian tourist was brutally assaulted while jogging at the Mabprachan reservoir in Bang Lamung.

Around 9.30 p.m. yesterday, May 18th, Pol Lt. Col. Chatchai Rakcheub from the Nong Prue Police Station responded to a physical assault of a female Russian tourist who was reportedly jogging at the Mabprachan reservoir, Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung, Chonburi.

According to the police report, the female victim was identified as Ms. Elena Y, 38, Russian. She suffered multiple injuries, including bruises on her throat, a head injury, and scratches on her face and body.

The police investigated the road leading to the reservoir where she had previously jogged and found a 10-meter-long trail of blood, her running shoes, and her phone. She was then transferred to the Bang Lamung Hospital.

Mr. Kosol Chomchuen, a 36-year-old witness, told police he was driving by when he heard the victim, who was covered in blood, call out for help. He then contacted the police, but he did not know what happened.

Today, May 19th, Damrong Iampairote, police chief from the Nong Prue Police Station, gave an update on this brutal assault, assuming it was not a robbery but rather an attempt to sexually assault her based on the fact that the suspect left the victim’s phone.

As Fabulous 103, along with Bangkok media, were allowed to film the site and surroundings alongside Pattaya’s Maprachan lake, it became quickly obvious that, despite huge spending on decorative lighting for main roads adjacent to the track, and most of the exercise track used by runners and cyclists having perfectly adequate lighting, a section of some 2KM which runs through dense forest has no lighting of any kind, and the track itself appears to be devoid of any CCTV cameras.

This then makes catching a violent perpetrator who carried out a vicious attack on a 38 yr old Russian woman, after sundown on Wednesday, much harder for police.

The roadway that you see here, is the only link from one side of the lake to the other, has lighting half way across but then, the lady will have found herself in this wooded area. It has become clear, she was ambushed and violently attacked on the path that is used as an exercise track around the lake.

The lady then, was running from the Soi Siam end, alongside the water until reaching the wooded and dark area, some 1.5 km from the main road at Nong Prue. Here, a male attacker ambushed her and forced her from the track into a grassy area, where, according to detectives, the assault took place.

So she was able to call out for help and is now home recovering but can't recall any thing. Sounds more to me like " they " do not want any more bad news around here between locals and foreigners.

Why any female wants to jog alone in a remote dimly lit area at 9:30 at night is beyond me.

Where does it state that she was jogging at 9.30pm?

If she doesn't remember anything, she could have been unconscious.

Cannot imagine that she started after dark. Most people would use the outside track after dark.

The outside track (as far as I'm aware) is the road.

you are aware that Russia has invaded Ukraine and soldiers have been raping Ukrainian women? so there is a possible motive, maybe a small chance and I didn't suggest a Ukrainian. What's your idea sherlock?

It can be Russians because she is publicly against the war? Or sexual violence, or just driven down by a car, motorbike or a attempt of robbery?

Aliens?

No, there is a cycling and running track around the lake, totally separate from the road. It looked to me as if she was running inside the gated area, as opposed to outside them where the cycling/running track is located.

You think someone can identify the nationality of someone jogging ???

Yep you'd have a good idea, does a Thai man suddenly not look Thai when jogging? Maybe an African American somehow looks different when jogging? etc

Talk about clutching at straws, mate give up, you are losing hands down.

Russians and Russian  business are now being targeted in the States.  their is a lot of anti-Russian sentiment now in the world.

Sounds like there is a stretch of unlit pathway too... not sure how much moonlight there was at that time. Taking a jog at nighttime is a surprising action for a young woman... and this attack also surprises me as it is in an area one thought away from the bad parts of town.

There is a sick individual out there that I hope they catch soon....
