Face masks back on as cabinet votes down end of mandate in June. Nightlife trade slams reopening

I'm sure it's not at all related to this decision, but CP Group spent 100 million to build a surgical mask facility in April 2020.

- there are masks to be sold, and profit to be made

- the Muppets in charge like to keep their power

- no one bothers with science or common sense here, anyway

 

It's time to let the public and business owners decide for themselves. Many will keep wearing them, and many businesses will tell customers and staff to wear them... but freedom of choice is what's needed.

Been down south for some weeks now and no need to wear a mask, I was almost in a shock the first few days. Now I can't even imagine to walk around with a mask elsewhere when outside.

 

Been like this since months here too, tells how silly the rule is in the first place. Never helped.

The 'temp check' is another example of pure conditioning. Last week I watched a group of eight masked up Thais in their 20s religiously queue up to do the temp check to "enter" W District in Phrakhanong ... which is all open air, and so which has no defined 'entrance'. They queued to 'get in' past the (unoccupied) guard's table next to the temp scanner, despite there being 20 yards of open frontage right next to it.

Yesterday evening I viewed this live webcam from Koh Samui.  I saw many foreigners but not one was wearing a mask.

The thing I think we forget is that people  in cities like BKK and CM were wearing masks long before covid.  That was probably  one of t he reasons that in the beginning things were so slow.

 

I go for a massage once a week and the girl wears a mask.  I can still tell that she is beautiful and I still get the same massage.  

 

While I agree they need to get back to normally I do not see any issues with the mask other than it is hot and they make things warmer.

 

Personally if they remove the mandate you are still going to see a lot of people wearing the masks.  While others may feel  that it does not serve any purpose it may give people a feeling of safety and that is their choice

It's a pretty silly policy...but governments love to control lives and never want to give up this power. At least here in Phuket, masks are only required in "Sevens" and government offices.

This is just to funny. Nightlife customers having a massage are not happy because they can't see their masseuses face while getting a massage. So the customer wants to see the masseuses smile when the customer has a happy ending and smiling as well, 5555555555555.

No point in holidaying  in Thailand when you got to wear a mask

Swensen's Ice Cream run last night, at 'rush hour', what little there is here.  about 3 kms from house - U turn to Hwy 4, and approx. 15 MBs along those 3 kms, and to my surprise, all, masked up quite proper.  Not to my surprise, only 1 wearing a helmet.  Probably the main 'local' road, that people drive the fastest on, (max 60 kph) aside from hwy 4.

 

Swensen's in the Lotus mall, having a mask operated turnstile, which of course I simply walk around.  As do most people entering now, if there is a Q of 1.  Apparently waiting in line to enter to spend money simply doesn't seem right for most folks.  Wearing my mask improperly, and take it off as soon as I'm seated at Swensen's.  Manager standing outside entrance, going w/chin diaper look, engaged in conversation.   Scooper of ice cream behind the counter, same.  Though adjusts to almost proper fit, when at register.  Wait staff, nose exposed.

 

Local 7-11 has a hand temp thermometer, which I'll use, but rarely see others bother with any more.

 

Makro has the monitor temp scanner, so not needing to do anything, except marvel at my handsomeness.    Many customers & staff (exception being at register) don't wear masks properly, inclusive, as once past security, I expose my nose, from my cartoon / useless mask to begin with.

Again another one who wants to push their own views, beliefs, and agendas on another country where they have their own mandates and regulations in regards to wearing masks.  It is no big deal to wear a mask as needed, takes no time to put one on and then dispose of it when you return to your domicile.

It does seem that Tourists are somewhat exempt from the stupid rule. Maybe I need to get my hair braided and slip on a pair of elephant pants next time I'm out and about in BKK.

 

Seriously though, clearly someone with connections has an interest in manufacturing/selling these useless things. LOS has turned into LOM. Very sad that the decline of Thailand continues unabated.

Indeed, if you ever seek an explanation for the ridiculous then the answer can always be found by "following the money".    I remain disappointed by the high volume of useful idiots who continue to support this money making venture at the expense of other people's businesses who rely on tourism.

Now back in Aus I had to wear a mask in the Doctors clinic. I lasted 20 minutes and left as I couldn't stand having the mask on...mild form of PTSD?

Don't know why you find it so onerous..... are you using a medieval face guard type or a Scold's Bridle. I have no issue with the surgical mask types in the Mall,  where it is air-conditioned. A bit sweaty and uncomfortable walking the humid Pattaya streets maybe.

Maybe we have to do the same as with wearing helmets on a motorcycle.... Don't do it and nothing will happen
