Two-year-old child brutally attacked by dog in South Pattaya, has over 200 stitches

Pattaya, Thailand-A two-year-old child out for a walk with his nanny and older brother was brutally attacked by a large, unleashed, and unsecured house dog in South Pattaya earlier this week.

 

The footage of the attack, taken on CCTV, went viral on social media and has caused Pattaya residents to ask for action around the incident.

 

The incident took place in a village in South Pattaya on Monday, June 20th, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. The incident came to the attention of the press the day after, yesterday, June 21st, after CCTV of the vicious attack was shared on social media and local Pattaya News reporters spoke with parties involved.

 

According to two witnesses seen in the photos above, only identified as Father Somkiat, 67, and Jet, 39, the incident was sparked when the nanny of the two foreign boys, 4 and 2, walked the boys past an open gate of a village home.

Don't think it was a stray, it was inside a gated area.

There is no responsibility nor accountability sounds familiar.  In my Thai village and I keep this to myself there is around 50 dogs within the small 8 Soi, two decades it seems the owners raise their kids in the same manner.  Kids as young as 4 just walking, sitting, roaming around on their own like the dogs, Before pandemic there were kids who didn't even go to school because the family had only enough for one child. 

Many of the dogs are brought in when they are puppets when feeding and caring for them becomes too much or they aren't cute any longer out they go whoever is kind enough to feed them becomes the owner until it takes a chuck of someones leg.

That is the problem. A 'pet' dog that's kept behind the gate all day, hot and bored and restricted... so when it does get the chance to get out it will do something. Very sad. Poor little lad.

Agreed. Dogs need ‘socialising’ with other animals and humans and need to be faithful that anything outside the property line is not a threat. 
I very rarely see socially adaptive dogs here. Sad that this continues to happen

A lot of hungry bellies needing filled over there. A clever man could exploit the dog meat trade angle and clean up the streets in Thailand at the same time.

I have a dog....he is collared 100% of the time. At home he has a two acre secure garden to pad around in (DW there) and he is never allowed out unless on a lead.

 

Strangers, children in particular, are not allowed to pet him......just in case....he has never bitten anyone and is good natured....but I don't trust him or any other dog.

 

If I walk him locally I carry a police baton due to the number of house dogs that are allowed to roam freely (no collars of course) and are frequently threatening.

 

It seems that 99% of people don't think and couldn't care less if their dog attacks you.

Only problem I've ever had with dogs here it has been dogs escaping their garden/yard and attacking me. Stray dogs tend to shy away, owned dogs not so much. I know why one of the dogs attacked me when it found the gate open. I had previously seen the owners whipping the dogs with a length of electrical cable because they were barking. Doesn't endear them to humans when they are treated that way.

Don't walk past open gates on public paths in Thailand or you may get killed by dogs and it will be your fault for not knowing better. Poor kids just wanted to go for a walk.

Thais don't understand this how the civilized world domesticated dogs in the first place. Vicious ones must be killed or banned from society. Since the gift of domesticated dogs has been imported into their country free of charge they don't seem to understand this is how it works.

On my morning jogs I interact with lots of soi dogs, but behind a gate are four large pitbulls. Yesterday and today I jogged just five minutes earlier than normal, and the pitbulls were out. Three of them ran at me, but just for some attention. It was all friendly fun. However, a youngster who appeared scared could possibly trigger something we don't ant to see. I doubt it though. They're strong and not to be trifled with, but they do get out of their yard every morning and that makes all the difference. Ok, the local strays go all defensive, but there's no blood or carnage.

 

Any dog that is kept restricted all the time can be aggressive, sometimes it's dangerous and other times it's just annoying.

As a dog owner myself.....more than happy with that.

 

All dogs should be 'owned'. Introduce a dog licence and make chipping compulsory to dissuade idiots from owning a dog. The funds can be used for so many other things.....vaccinations etc.

This subject of dogs attacking people  especially on bikes is never ending 

No action is taken to seriously to deter  the owners 

Huge fines Dogs put down even threats of going to prison 

I myself have been bitten 3 times when out on my bike ride which caused me 3 visits to the hospital get injections 

The dogs were street dogs

I can't even go for a walk in my neighborhood, one vicious dog comes after me and before I know it I'm surrounded by half a dozen. The meanest dogs come out from houses with either no fence, no gate, or gates that are never closed and haven't been for years.

Mmmmm....getting that at the minute.

 

The wife is no shrinking violet, but there are a few problems with the builder we have at the moment.....somethings she is happy to get sorted, but then she starts to second guess what the builder might not be happy about......... so she doesn't even mention them!!!

This is so true I know the dog lovers hate this type of talk. 

Now I've eaten plenty of dog in my days living here you get one of those trucks that transport pigs go around and pick them all up without collars that would be a good start. 

Then enforce iF leaders are serious instead of all the hot air daily with silly announcement that go nowhere.  

On my Soi years ago there were two females when in heat 20 plus would line up pulling a train these two must have produced 50 pups through the years they were the two ugly disease infected dogs I've ever seen but that didn't stop the dogs today they are all nearly gone many I think died from dog VD????, the others were run over or poison.
